The Skeletal Warrior has to be the best summon overall, but the Mordenkainens Sword is a close second.
The Sword simply doesn't quite have the duration that the Warrior has, but is nastily effective, esp against things that the mages usual arsenal of spells don't work against.

For those interested in Summons, I've spent a considerable number of hours developing better AI for the minions summoned in SOA, including the Spellcasters, Figurines and the like... It *vastly* improves their effectiveness.
