Maybe it's just me, but I have the feeling H2H is much stronger in Oblivion then it was in Morrowind.

u right it is! in morrowind the h2h hurt the futige and if u knocked the opponet down then u hurt them only when their on the floor but in oblivion it hurts them directly.

As well it should! getting in fist fights doesn't exactly make people want to curl up and take a nap...

I've run four very different characters through most of the major questlines. One tank: strictly blades. One assassin: bows preferred, blades when it had to be up close and personal. One diplomat: persuade, charm & sneak, bows when violence was unavoidable, blades in emergencies. One mage: never picked up a weapon except to sell it, with one notable exception (SPOILER: the ultimate heist is a serious pain with crappy Marksman skill). So, I'd have to say blades, hands down. But answering the question makes me want to run a monk (specialize in H2H) and a skullcrusher (specialize in blunt).

Blades,
just because they are faster than blunt.. stronger than HtoH and dont take long to do some dmg, like a bow.

Normally, I rely on my Daedric Longsword to get the job done. But now I am at least Expert level on all of the Combat skills. One of my favorite weapons is the environment itself. I just lure my undead enemies into the spike traps and they suffer heavy, if not terminal damage! Then I just finish 'em off with my sword.

Combo!!!
Put a couple of sneak attack arrows in them, then finish them off with an enchanted blade (preferably Umbra) when they charge.

My Assasin/Thief usually uses his bow. Its quite easy to kill things with a bow when your out in the open because you can just walk backwards while your enemy continues to run at you and fill him full of arrows, but when your in a more confined space, or facing a mage, its easier to use blade. My assasin usually uses either the blade of woe(Powered up version) or a shortsword of fire or ice, which ever has some charge left. I like to use blades on mages because while their casting spells theres nothing to block your attacks (Like a shield or their weapon) so you wont get knocked back and you can just hack away. My mage uses mainly only magic, but sometimes when I get annoyed because people fighting on my side keep getting in the way of the spell of because I run out of magick I just grab a sword and start hacking, even though my mage has the strength and sword skill of a girl scout.

It's hand to hand for me. I've already mastered the blade, but I just find Hand to hand enjoyable. I know that you can disarm your opponent with weapons, but disarming an enemy with hand to hand seems cooler to me. AND if you haven't tried it, for all you hand to hand players out there, I made a spell that damages fatigue 100pts for 3 secs. Cast that once or twice, and they should fall right down, its good when your against much stronger enemies.

Having always played a battlemage from daggerfall onwards, then blade is my prefered close in, rip there guts out, and watch the brain balls fly melee weapon of choice
Thats after i have softened them up with some long range artillery spells first.
Guess i'm a scorched earth policy kind of guy at heart!
