Still can remember it up till this very day.
That seriously creeped me out as well. It was just... ick. I also saw the twist coming, but I liked it because it tightened up the story and gave the main character purpose beyond the main quest. I only wish there were more conversations about it other than the one right after the Leviathan.

see, i was so pissed that i would have liked nothing more then to kill bastila and malak right then and there. yo have no idea how pissed i was. that night, (it was like 2am) i called my friend who let me barrow it and chewed him out for not telling me. it was funny. we still laugh about it to this day.
but yea i was so mad i figured that bastila and malak deserved each other. when it came to talk to her at the top of the temple, and i kicked her butt, then she ran away to her dumb ship like a weenie, i still wanted to kill her.
but at the end, ( i was playing a female rev) when it came to fight her again, i couldnt save her. it was horrible. i had to kill her. i was so upset because i got over her issue with the dark side and tried to turn her back. but since i didnt have the romance to fall back on... i had to kill her. i was so mad.
so im kinda rambling because im kinda really tired. sorry. im going to bed now.
Happy Halloween!

Well I had suspected it for a long time 'cause I had played KotOR II first...
But anyway when Malak said I was Revan, I was like 'Noooooooooooo !!!!!!!!!'
It took a while to calm down but after I thought 'wow, that's COOL !! Now's the return of the TRUE LORD OF THE SITH wahahahahaaaa !!!'
Well I'm LS, but it's still great to think of myself as the Dark Lord himself, hehehe

I was in disbelief when I first saw the revelation cinematic. And as I was watching it, I thought about The Usual Suspects, The Sixth Sense, and all those other movies with great twists.
I just finished playing through it again after a two-year shelving of the game. I really tried to be my character this time, so the plot still had some effect on me.

(Spoilers, please highlight) My friend told me that my character was revan, so I was kinda annoyed at him for a few days afterwards. The second time I played in a different character, and I just wanted to shoot malak in the vocabulator to make him shut up!!

Yeah, I'm one of those folks who got a "Usual Suspects"/"Sixth Sense" vibe upon meeting Malak. I've played a number of RPGs so I figured Kamin Stargazer (my Scout/Consular) just happened to be really, really talented, and whose story just happened to run parallel to the really, really talented Revan. I felt something was really odd with Saul's last words, and my Spidey Sense hit overdrive when the gang met Malak and the movie started to play.
KOTOR was already a great game but that revelation instantly made it the uncontested Emperor of SW games in my eyes.

erg.
Well, heh. Spoiler! Highlight below, if you have your reading glasses:
Okay. A little backstory for you guys, it eventually has purpose, I swear. I just finished eight hours of straight playing, so I'm a bit chatty, sorry
Stories are my drug. Have been all my life. For years, I've been one of those people who, if you tell them ANYTHING about a movie, or plotline, they'll figure it out, or it'll just wreck the experience. All the employees at the local Blockbuster even know not to tell John anything past, "Good, Bad, Meh, Die, Chick flick", and so on. One of them did a little bouncy thing he found out I hadn't played KOTOR. I was jazzed.
So I have this whole suspension of disbelief thing going on, where I turn off my brain. Thus, I can experience joy, surprise, all that. In a video game, it's SO much more intense, because you're involved in the story. For days. I get in the zone, don't notice my phone 'til the second ring. Even had a dream about it last night, heh.
Yeah, I got problems. Anyhoo.
I was minding my own business on my first new planet, Tattooine, reeeeally getting into the game. I'm trying to level up on Wraids, but at level 11, I was only getting 40xp off the little guys. So hop out to the computer room to look that up (had to be 12th for the 500xp big ones), and I decide to idly check out something about my fancy new battle droid HK-47, wondering why I couldn't just use T3 to fix him.
Sooooo, I popped up "KOTOR + HK-47 + repair" in a Google Search, and ended up on a forum that seemed to be leading to it, and hit this:
"AKA: I dunno how much of HK47's back story you get if you don't have any repair skill, so you might not know this: He was your servant when you were Darth Revan"
!&*@%!^*
I shut down my web browser. Shut down my xbox. Had a smoke. Went out for some food. Came back. Stared at my xbox. Muttered inanities to myself. Watched some TV. Smoked another cigarette. Couple hours passed.
Eventually I uttered a few profanities due that I was hooked on the game, then powered it back on. Struggled with my utterly black desire to break something, hit the swoop races, then took it out on Wraids until I was 18th, stopping many, many times for a smoke break, then flew off that dustball of a planet.
Somehow, I resisted the call to the dark side (light meter was pegged at the end). But every now and then, it'd pop back into my head. Then I'd save at a certain point, get all sorts of evil to vent out some frustration, then reload and go back to being a ninny.
That being said:
For Kotor II (running to get it in a sec), I'll be only using this site. You guys are terribly adamant about spoilers on the board. I dig being oblivious to these things, but at the same time, want to maximize my character by learning the system the first time, and not miss out on plot events and nifty items that I wouldn't otherwise find cruising through by myself without clicking on every...single...thing...that...exists...in...the...game.
So, guys. Thanks for all the effort you put into this forum/site...It's an awesome resource, especially for guys like me. Very, very much appreciated

Kayos wrote:really? i didnt see any of the hints until malak threw it in my face. all along i thought i was just some jedi that bastila picked up. i really had no idea that my guy was who he was. but then again im not a huge gamer. i just played this one and the second one. so i was very surprised. i didnt see it coming at all.
after i found out, i was so angry and shocked, i made my guy go dark side. then on the star forge, i killed bastila.
I was the exact opposite. I had already known about it, I have a bad habit of finding out every future event in games. I decided to stay light side, and I forgave Bastila. I mean, come on; what would YOU have done in her position?

well, i had the same bad luck as BobDole. me and my cousin were playin it, well i was playin and he was watching while we both decided on convo selections and the like. great story u can just get so wrapped up in that alone.
(spoiler)
anyway...my cousins brother/my other cousin, lol, (whos the one who introduced us to the game) came into the room and was talkin to us, we were half listenin due to our full concentration on the cinematic that was playin at the time just a lil while before wed find out from Malak in the game, and just before he walks out of the room, he decides to say "Oh yeah, u guys figure out that ur Darth Revan yet?"
well that ruined our whole concentration on game, i mean i kept on playin just to see the story thru, but wasnt as full into the story like i was. but i kept on playin, and even tho the twist was ruined for me, i was still very into the game because i was goin DS anyways, (just love to get my way in video games) and so now had the thought that i was a returning Sith Lord in the back of my mind the whole time to make me act even more evil and a bigger motive to kill off bastila and malak

but the question is, did you kill bastila or did you join her?
