If you're referring to Shadow Armor, ain't Shadow Armor considered +3 Studded Leather?
Otherwise, where did you find Elven Chain? Is that that Drizzt armor?

- Charming enemies into allies, using (Dire) Charm & Domination.
- Enchanting enemies, using Sleep, Hold, Emotion, Confusion, Chaos, & Feeblemind.
- Summoning allies, using Monster Summoning & Spider Spawn.
- Conjuring a ranged attack, using Acid & Flame Arrows.
- Wade carefully into battle with that cool sword Moonblade, with the support of Conjured & Illusionistic defenses like (Ghost) Armor, Blur, Mirror Image & Wraithform.
- Escape vain beatdowns by "Illuding" enemies with (Improved) Invisibility & Shadow Door.
Throw in a Greater Malison or Blindness for the tough guys. Whoa! ...almost makes you want to solo Xan. (Almost.)
That sounds like a cool strategy, but you could use the same strategy with a Conjurer. Edwin has higher Constitution and his amulet--would you solo him?

You are correct that Shadow Armor is +3 Studded Leather and would prevent spells from being cast.

It has to be Drizzt's as that is the only Elven Chain available in the game.

Sry about my spell list it is wrong of course.
I would never create an enchanter but he's there and he is effective when used to his strengths like most NPC's

No problem, Jordoo.
As for the elven chainmail issue, I think Celacena is talking about BG2 instead of BG1. Elven chain isn't in BG1, and neither is Aerie. It's a simple mistake, so be cool about it.

Drizzt's armor isn't really "elven chainmail", even though it's chainmail and it's worn by a (dark) elf. It was specially made for Drizzt by his dwarven friend Bruenor Battlehammer, the King of Mithral Hall. I don't think surface elves use much mithral in their forges; it's sort of a dwarven specialty. Dark elves use adamantine in their armor and weapons.
In any case, Drizzt's mithral chainmail allows Fighter/Thieves to use their thieving skills (it can't be worn by single-class Thieves), and it allows characters such as Clerics and Rangers to cast Priest and Druid spells (it can't be worn by single-class Druids), but it doesn't allow anyone to cast Wizard spells, thus adding weight to the argument that it isn't really elven chainmail.

I always play cRPG games as a mage so Dynaheir fits me best as a suplement spellcaster (and she comes with Minsc that I tend to take along). I never really liked the idea of dual classing Imoen because of this. Is it worth it? Because in BG2 she is dualled anyway I think I will grab a second thief and dual her too in my next game. I have a little off-topic question about exp aspect of the dual class system. When should I change class and why then (someone suggested lvl5).

The XPCap allows dualing Imoen to mage at level6 and still reaching the highest available mage level. Each thief level you take can yield 2 extra HP and 20 skillpoints. Thief level4 allows another weapon profiency and level5 gives backstab*3.
But you can dual her earlier if you want the mage spells a little faster or a shorter dualing period, most of the game you won't be near the cap anyway.
Playing or dualing to pure mage isn't a good idea, you can cast more spells as specialist without loosing important spells, illusionist and conjurer are the best choices, depending on your other party members.
Powerful early available thieves are Montaron and Shar-Teel, Coran is the only powerful non-evil thief. If you follow the plot closely you can get him long before Imoen reaches level6.
Regarding power Minsc is the worst warrior NPC, every character can get 18/00 strength for a long time with just 2 strength spells.

VonDondu wrote:Since he's wearing armor, does that mean you don't cast spells in combat? Which spells do you like to use?
Sorry about the delay in replying. I only found the question when doing a search on Drizzt.
I certainly do use spells in combat, but usually using wands, Algernon's Cloak and scrolls. The Wands of Frost, Fire and Monster Summoning are particular favourites. Cloudkill is what I use for the big battle at Ulgorth's Beard as it is particularly effective there. Being a Thief/Illusionist means that I never get to use it apart from using scrolls. I also use area spells such as fireball and web before going into combat proper. However, once I have the boots of speed, I tend to use backstab more than spells except in the Ducal Palace where sleep, monster summoning and Algernnon's Cloak are my favourite's. With those, you can usually keep both Dukes alive.
