Christmas takes on a whole new meaning this year. My son will be 11 weeks come Christmas and even though he won't remember it, my wife and our parents will see to it being a heavily recorded and photographed occasion.
On a purely superficial level, I'm expecting a few items which have been hidden around the house. I have been forbidden from ransacking the place and I'm being a good boy waiting for the day. I do however constantly harass her for little clues and such.

Awww... A big congratulations to you Tam!
I remember our first Christmas with our son, it was pretty special. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

1) Spend as much time as possible with them, and try to have as much fun as possible.
2) The country where I'm from of course...
3) Uhhh, my family? Don't quite get that question. Can you please clarify?

The holidays are great when I have absolutely no plans for the day. Nothing beats going to bed at 4am after a heavy night of
gaming, knowing that the only reason I would need to be up the next day would be to continue from my last save point/game and to grab some delicious instant noodles...
on second thoughts, this sounds pretty depressing to be doing day-in and day-out, but it's not really an issue if you've only got 1-2 days of holiday at a time

Same here Brink:
The kids are going to be gone for 2 days and that gives me unlimited access to both the Wii and the Xbox ....looks like some more Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed and a little Mario on the Wii...stopping just long enough to play a few hours of PC Morrowind.

...plus I'm giving the gift of Call of Duty 4 and if he leaves it,...well another one to play...

@BlueSky - That sounds great (I do envy you!)! I've been trying to get back to playing BG2/P:T during my holidays, but have not had that much success (passing out before 1am, family obligations, etc.), but I will try taking 1-2 gaming days off before Christmas.
Still annoyed at Bioware for their lack of PC love!

@ Brink:
I have just finished a long awaited replay of the BG series....still feels like a "new" game whenever I play it.....
As for PC, that is my personal choice for gaming....in fact, built me a "new" machine last spring after I discovered that my old one just couldn't handle the KOTOR series....
Maybe the Holidays will be nice to both of us and give us a few days of gaming.

Hello, Brink! Good to see you, again.
Still annoyed at Bioware for their lack of PC love!
Well, two of the founders left after the BG series, and the other two effectively sold out to market forces in dumbing down and standardizing their subsequent games. Now they've left, too, so what we have is really "the Bioware-that-was-once-Bioware." Name only, no resemblance to the original four physicians, in their twenties, who dealt with those bitter cold Canadian weekends by marathon D&D sessions. Wouldn't expect holiday cheer from the accountants in charge, now.
On a happier front, I've gotten my wife 6 presents, this year. Her folks are going to stay with us, and hopefully nobody will try to get conventionally religious during that time. They're generally very tactful, following the theory that what you don't know won't hurt you.

That might work to the advantage of all, this year.

Somewhat long holidays such as this is the only time I have to revive my BattleNet account. If it isn't dead already.

Weird as it may seem, I've encountered the same "Anti Yuletide" people that I did last year. They haven't changed much here either.
We've got two major Banshees who's been movin' on lately. I hope the both of you, Fable & Dragon Wench, find peace and happiness in your new homes. That's what Yuletide is all about for me. Home.
Now sacrifice a goat and bring the ketchup!

Here's one of a pair of threads return from last year. If the season leaves you so overwhelmed with joy and the milk of human kindness, squirt a gallon or two on this page.
Metaphorically speaking, of course.

Yesterday we put up the decorations, which the sprog loves doing. Later in the week I'm going out to look for prezzies, which I love doing. Luckily His Sprogness only wants Star Wars Lego this year, so me'n him are gonna spend quite some time building Tie-fighters and AT-STs in the new year.

But first we're going to Aqaba in Jordan for New Years Eve to do a bit of diving and deep sea fishing. The wife also wants to see Petra, one of the few wonders she's managed to miss. So the holidays are gonna be great, especially for the little booger, and that's all that really matters.

The Holidays. God, how I miss the way they use to be. When we were raising our children (3 girls and 2 boys). Except for the out door decorations, we did everything on Christmas eve after the kids were in bed. I mean every thing!!!
Put up the tree, wrap presents, put together toys. Wanted to make it look like Santa had really been there.
Have fond memories of trying to put together those old tin doll houses. Sitting on the floor, with band-aids on every finger, trying to finish the job with out spilling any more beer. Ah the good old days.
Then came 8 grand children. Not as much work, but just as much joy.
They're all grown now. Our youngest grandson is 16. Our oldest is serving in Iraq, and we worry about him every day.
My wife and I have been together 46 years and now have a great-grand child on the way. IT STARTS ALL OVER

Holidays, I LOVE 'em!

Always loved. Earlier it was because I could spend more time on games - in the first place - and then books, friends and other entertainment. Now it's because I can spend more time with my son and wife and, of course, I'm still a gamer

(well, now it's usually in the evening when I can play, 'cause my kid is sleeping

)

This will be a particularly special Christmas for a number of reasons.
1. I will be returning home after spending four months studying abroad and while I've lived away from my parents before because of school it is the first time I've lived in a different country (and continent). It's the longest period of time I've gone without seeing them so it'll be great to be back. Also I'll be happy to have a drink with the friends I've been away from for a semester.
2. The first Christmas I'll get to share with my girlfriend...we were together last year but unfortunately were not in the same city during the holidays so it'll be great to celebrate it with her for the first time.
PS - It's also good to have a break from school.

I kinda like them, but I don't like the days after the holidays, when everything is over. I always have a feeling saying 'Was that it?'. All the commotion... (I must be a freak when I get a little nausious just from all presents under a lighted tree, with every year the same crappy christmas movies on tv)
However, what I really like about the holidays is that it's the only time the entire family is together.
(
And the famous Christmis Diner
)
Joy!
