However, recently I played a no-reload-fighter/mage/thief - and believe me, backstabbing with the hammer in off-hand is something worth seeing. And in my other strategy - Timestop+go for the dragon(both the black one and the green one in the abyss) - only thanx to the strength of Crom Faeyr was I able to kill the beasts and still had 2 turns after my second Time stop.
How did your FMT cast Timestop (FMT's gain level 8 spells maximum)?

Removed XP cap or installed TOB.

And for the utterly honest players(because I find xp cap annoying) - there is Mirror Image + Limited Wish(I am not sure but it has to work) - and wish for a "control over time".

First let me agree with everyone - Crom Faeyr is definetly worth making.. Minor strength boosts can be achieved trough spells and potions, however the godly 25 can only be possible with the hammer for a non-cleric. It is the best hammer in the game because you get it very early (as opposed to the Runehamer +5) and because it makes a fighter type like Corgan a force to be reckoned with. I usually dual wield the Axe of the Unyielding +5 in the main hand and Crom Faeyr in the off-hand with him.

About limited wish - the timestop wish is a one-time shot option. One could, however, use a scroll with a projected image, thus gaining infinite timestops..

Must have removed the XP cap, because the ToB XP cap prevents FMT's from getting 9th level spell slots.

Well, of course I meant Projected Image I simply messed up the spell name calling it Mirror Image :o

There is another way of casting Time Stop spells - use a Simulacrum with equipped scrolls of Time Stop. There are at least 3 of them in SoA.
