I couldn't agree with you more, Thorin.
I think that Bioware has really taken out the mystique and "novel-book-heroics" of dragonfighting. Sort of, anyway. I mean, the whole thing about the Garen's child fascination is a nice touch, but it all seem redundant if all of the dragons hoard (how did he ever aford the army?) to be less worth if you sell it all than you get from Renal Bloodscalp for running a bit around and killing a mage and some thieves! 10500 goldpieces and a shortsword+3 what the fu..?!

@MordorMan

I don't know if they will let you in the uncheese league with a sig. that says Kensai/Thieves rule. I know I'm stirring the pot here but there has been some discussions recently with the advent of ToB (use any item) that turns this dual class combo into a feta most potent. I've not played a Kensai/thief before so I'll side with Sweden.

Ned, I just started TOB but I haven't read recent Kensai/Thief discussions, although I participated in some older ones. Still, I can smell the cheese: use any item will let you wear armour.

Maybe that is cheesy, but not that much I think. My K/T was walking around with an AC of around -9 most of the time, thanks to potions and spells, which is low enough I think.

Anyway, in general I think mother of all cheeeses much be visiting this forum (and others). Cheesy tactics can only be used whne they are known, right?

Maybe I'm lazy, but I LIKE the cheese. I don't summon a lot of monsters, but I have a high-enough level paladin that all I have to do is walk up to most undead, including lichs, and watch'em explode. Is that too cheesy? One, I never played the pen-and-paper D&D, so I don't really know any different. And two, I've spent A LOT (too much) time playing BG, sweating out tough battles. I didn't feel like much of a god. But when I can mop the floor with a boss or two it's good to know not EVERY boss in the game can kick my ass. To me, it adds to the roleplaying (and I'm just not paitent enough to try to figure different ways to beat enemies).

To some of you :
I have no problem with using Shadowkeeper to "roll"/boost a char or even modify a NPC (for examle Jaheira's proficiencies are just ridiculous !)...It eases the game but isn't "cheese" - that is it don't ruin the fun, jsut makes you somewhat tougher.

As for summons, they should just be "restricted" : it's OK to have some and have them help the group, it is not to hide in FoW and wait for the enemies to have exhausted their most powerful spells !!
Beating liches w/o summons IS possible with hard-hitters, armed with Mace of Disruption (once fixed it ROCKS vs undead !), Carsomyr or Daystar... I used some summons to help beat the "Eye quest" sewers Lich (Shade Lich I think), it was the first I encountered and my party was still weak, but got others without - Kangaxx is a special case : I used Carsomyr + Scroll of Magic resistance...

As for Firkraag's treasure, I'm OK with it, it perhaps lacks some "graphical" representation on screen (say a pile of gold/gems :) )
I'm more disappointed with the anti climactic bosses/dragons deaths, they just fall *pooof* ;) No anims, agony shrieks, last curses, nothing...

Too much sorc soloing perhaps. I really don't remember how I used to kill liches with a full party.</STRONG>
Try Polymorph Self to Mustard Jelly. Totally immune to magic; drains them of all their spells. Only the Efreeti is a problem... You can poly to Wolf, run away and wait for it to unsummon in a couple of minutes.

You guys miss the point of cheese. You use to cheese to have fun. It isn't cheating. Also you guys are hypocrites! You use shadowkeeper to edit your stats but you wont use cheese, oh no, that would be cheating! I don't use shadowkeeper to edit MY stats OR MY NPCs!

Is it? It's also an interesting one. While the death thing is a matter of preference, I suppose, reloading is different. It's very very possible to go through the game (in a party) without reloading. If you use raise deads, resurrection, and take care of your PC, I don't see why you should reload at all. Is this not a form of cheese, after all in PnP when you make a bad decision, if you are all wiped out after one tragic battle -- well, that's it. Too bad. If you screw up a pickpocket - too bad. Why change this rule for the computer game? Particularly when reload is made so, so, so easy. And so tempting. Why no just - say No to reload?
