ToB Paladin Weapons: Carsomyr vs. Purifier
These are the things to look at when you are choosing your holy sword:
a) What weapon skill you like to use?
b) Do you like to use a shield or another weapon?
c) How many paladins will be in your group.
Personally, I think if you're looking into ratios, min & max damage, your missing the point of this being a game of fun. It's not a science what weapon to pick, you just have to decide.
I personally use a Purifier & Foebane combo (currently). I do, however, switch off of dual wielding and to a shield of harmony when I'm fighting a heavy magic situation.
I also have Keldorn in my Party using Carsomyr.
While I'm not a 100% sure, could someone who still has their 2nd Edition P-n-P rules tell me if they allowed +6 weapons or higher? Last I knew weapons only went up to +5.
Bah, that's only if you are considering transfering your character to P-n-P though.
Anyways, think how you usually play, how much fun you have playing with a certain weapon, and the choice should be obvious.

Never seen anything like it. Was probably put in because the designers felt the uber, the merrier... If you already have +5 weapons in SoA, what would you do for ToB?Originally posted by Orland:

Sarevok (I was playing evil) using ravager +6 could hit the final boss (I won't tell the name), but Korgan and my PC (using +5 hammer and longsword) couldn't hit (weapon ineffective). Fallen deva managed to hit. Yes you can win without +6 weapon (Sarevok was the only one with +6 weapon anyway), but my point is that you need +6 weapon to HIT, not win. Hope this helps.
Orland, yes the P&P 2nd ed. does include a few of +6 hackers. In the Unearthed Arcana there are a couple (a Holy Avenger and a Defender). I am sure there are a few in the Encyclopedia Magica. Many of the weapons in the BG series have their originals listed in the E.M. If any of you can get your hands on a copy (especially Vol.4), take some time and check them out. Its kinda neat.

That's right; it's bugged. I believe Baldurdash has the fix (as ever).Originally posted by moriveth:
