Well my firewall is on my own computer, so I can just deaktivate it - if you play through somebody "elses" firewall I don't actually know if it is possible.
Try contacting the person that supervise your network and talk to him, to see if he has any advice.

I need to figure out myself as to how to play through a firewall, seeing as my computer was just under attack by a possible hacker, wich I think was on gamespy

here's my suggestion (and this may sound stupid, but anywayz).. we could all post where wer are from, and from there, we will make a list. Then from these data, we could 'team up' ppl from the same country to play with each other. This might lack/limit variety, but that could be the initial workout. I mean.. of course if u desperately wanna play with Xan and u live in Scotland.. well, by all means.. but yeah, that's my 2c worth.
Anyway, if anyone is interested, I live in Australia.. and have played via phone with my cousin (who also lives in Australia). We played SoA (just the 2 of us) and it was fine. It wasnt laggy AT ALL (except for the dozen magic missiles he kept making! haha)... and the load up time for each scene was at times FASTER than a single player (dont ask! haha)... And plus, we both have only a crappy 56k modem.

Well, i logged on through a different ISP without a firewall and was actually able to see games i could join. so i know what the problem is, but in a few days i'll be living in the dorms. The internet there runs through the ISP with the firewall, and i'm not sure i'll be able to log in through the other one. I'll just have to wait and see.

The problems I had with the firewall was that the game would crash in charactergeneration whether or not I was the host.

MP must be absolute horror for Mages! I have Auto-Pause on Spell Cast, and take loads of time figuring out my next move and rummaging around in my Inventory while the game is paused...

Well I've played a bit with nippy and it isen't so hard, except when there is lag, and there is a fair bit of lag when we play (around 500-700 ms).
Useally I pause before casting a spell, giving me time to aim, but still it isen't that hard.
But you learn to come into every battle prepared

, no pausing to scroll through spells, quickspells and sequencer
