Well in second edition Elminster was only a level 29 wizard right? So if he translated exactly over to third edition (same equivalent XP) I could mop the floor with him with my ToB party. :D

Please, Elminster is still laughable compared to my 8 million XP crew with Keldorn, Valygar, Aerie, Imoen, Anomen, and my Monk. +5 longsword? Plastic. Ring of Protection +3? Hey don't I have one of those and the ring of Gaxx? Bracers of Armor +7? I have those too (bracers of defense AC3 is the same thing.) Amulet of Natural Armor +5? I have a few good Ammys such as Amulet of the Master Harper, Amulet of Power, Amulet of the Seldarine and so on. Ring of Regeneration? I got 2. Mantle of spell resistance? I got the girdle of inertial barrier. Pipe of eversmoking? I got the Big Metal Unit!

Answer me this: How's he going to stop a Monk completely immune to magic, a Paladin who can destroy any magic, a ranger who stuns enemies with almost every hit and can backstab, a mage who can cast imprisonment/dragon breath/energy blades, a cleric who has the strength of a god, and a winged elf without wings who can load a doom, greater malison and flesh to stone in a contingency. Elminster still feeling lucky?

Sure he is powerful but I am saying that he wouldn't stand a chance against my six uber-characters (as Elmisters challenge rating states). Im not saying that I would want to face Elminster, I'm just saying that Throne of Bhaal so imbalances the game that it becomes laughable. (I still love it though)

Don't even try to argue that Elminster could beat my crew, the leader has access to the all powerful RELOAD button! :D

Well, the power of the levels has been recalibrated for 3ed, so a 20th-lvl anything is an all-powerful, earth-shattering force that can slay armies. Anyway, Elminster himself shows up sometime in the game to say that even he wouldn't dare challenge you. That's sure satisfying. Too bad he teleports off before you can test your power. ;)

In 3E you can start as mulitclassed; it's an option in the DMG. This won't appear in NWN though, so it's moot. :)

Since Argyle is not a FR setting, you won't be seeing the tired old corpses of Elminster or Drizzt walking around...but you also won't want to run into Ptarsis, or Emeloth. Or, if you happen to fall into disfavour with someone of influence, a Hound like Torrad ;)

Folks, I've heard you're all interested in playing Argyle, which is great. As I've said to Nippy, I hope we live up to your (and my) expectations! I encourage you all to read through our History and Legends pages, from the Lore tab, and bombard me with questions either via email, the Argyle Ruminations board, or here.

Cheers!

Now you're using this otherwise highly inspiring thread to insert your own publicity stab. You people are shameless!

Of course, the "you people" you refer to are our people, since we're planning on establishing the BotB in Argyle, I don't think it's that shameless to begin getting us used to our adventuring world and the characters therein. Just my opinion.

You won't be so happy that I'm active and participating when your parties get their collective butts kicked by my modules!

er, damn, thinking out loud again...that's what happens when your brain is the size of a walnut.

As in previous notes, folks, post on our board, email me, whatever you like. At Argyle we are very receptive to the players' ideas and wants - you'll be playing there, so make sure it's what you hope it will be! :)

Oh, yeah?!? *grumble, grumble* Where did I put that +12 Hackmaster again?

Suddenly, Matti was silenced by a mysterious obelisk that fell from the clear blue sky doing 1 million points of damage to the smart-mouthed paladin.

Matti learned an important lesson that day. Tread lightly when your DM is on a rampage! ;) Unfortunately, that lesson never seemed to cure his sharp witted tongue. :D
