The blade of searing is a bastard sword +3 which deals and exta point of fire damage.
Pretty sucky really.
Bastard swords got screwed over big time in BG2. I've actually created some of my own. Make Blade of searing look like the butterknife it is!
I must say though, next time through, I'm using three custom created characters, one of which will be a fighter with +++++ in Halberds!
Halberds are the way to go!
