I don't know of any specific word for fear that things you sit or stand on are going to collapse, but I know it's a very common fear. My very first therapy patient actually had that kind of phobia, he was afraid that buildings he was in would suddenly collapse, especially high buildings like bridges or houses with many floors.

Me and my 'rents went to Disney World in Florida back in '95 or '96. I don't remember it hurting as much afterwards, but we only spent three days there. One at Magic Kingdom, then a day of rest, then a day at Epcot Center. This time we spent four days at Disneyland with one day in the middle for rest. However, on that day, I met an online friend irl and we spent part of that day walking around a small portion of LA with him.

As for the fear, I'm not sure if that's quite the fear I have or not. I was afraid when climbing up into "Tarzan's Treehouse," but I wasn't afraid when climbing up the 'mountain-like' area on Tom Sawyer's Island. On rides, I get scared when going up, which causes you to be leaning back. I also get scared when going backwards down, specifically when it makes you lean backwards. Another very scary thing was the Ferris(sp?) Wheel they have at California Adventure. It had a few cages that were 'stationary,' but the rest of the cages sorta swung. They had a track shaped like this: (¯¯¯¯). This track was stationary, but the cage was hanging from it and had wheels so that it rolled around it as the thing went around. When the thing stopped, the cage would swing. I really hated the fact that part of the time you were having to lean back. *shudders* My mom panicked while on it(she hadn't wanted to go on it to begin with) and we had to yell(so they could hear us) for them to stop it as soon as we got back to the bottom so we could get off. I, myself, couldn't have gone around again without panicking just like my mom did.

We were only at Ecpot Center, mainly because my husband claimed that was the only place in Florida where one could have a decent cup of coffee (We Scandinavians usually think that the coffee is like dishwater in the UK and the US). The we walked around in the area and found some thing called "skycoaster" or something like that, a huge tower where you could make sort of a combined free fall and bungy jump from 300 f or so. That was great, although the people running the thing looked at me like we were crazy because I was the only one who didn't scream - I've done skydiving before

I don't think you have that kind of phobia, all the things you describe are sort of meant to scare people, aren't they

They are meant to scare people, but not to the point that they panic and start screaming to be to let off the ride, though, usually, if that's gonna happen to me, I'll be too scared to get on the ride in the first place. I'm not saying I have that phobia, though. Just that I might have it or something similar. At first I thought I might have a fear of heights, but when we went on a ride called "Soaring Over California" where you are in a chair about 10' above the ground in front of a giant screen and through visual effects and the effects of movement of your seat feel like you're flying in a chair over California, I wasn't scared at all, even though it was so realistic. *shrugs* I don't know what I'm afraid of, just that I'm afraid of something.
