@dragon wench, I was going to post this earlier, but I had to skim past the whipped cream discussion :squeamish: and wasn't sure if you had an aversion to using the console.
Here's that flower he gave you:
CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("AnomenRomanceActive","GLOBAL")
If you get 2 petals, he loves you. If you get 3, he loves you not...

Aargh....
ok I've been trying to locate "baldur.ini" via the BG2 SOA programme file. It does not appear to be there, I've found "baldur.log", "baldur.err" , various other files, and many which simply start up the game when I click on them. I now feel really stupid, because it should be reasonably straight forward. Any help here would be much appreciated.

Make sure you have "show all files" in your view options, Windows Explorer will hide *.ini files otherwise.

My file is listed as just plain "baldur". Looks like a notepad with a little yellow cog-wheel-gear-type thingy in the corner. Look for that; if you find it it's probably the one you want. Hope that helps...

ok, thanks making some progress. I've now located the file I need under just "baldur", and I've typed in Debug Mode=1.
And presto I press ctrl and space bar and up pops the console.
Problem: when I try typing in any of the romance query commands I get "lua:syntax error, last token read.....dostring or something.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? And thanks a lot BYW

Hey, nothing like coming to the rescue...
That error shouldn't come up if you've typed it in (or copy/paste)
exactly as it's shown in my post above. I've never tried it without the letters in caps being in caps etc. and gotten an error. Sometimes the cursor behaves strangely in the console, but as long as the text string is correct it should work.
Hope that helps!

I got the exact same thing. Someone (Georgi or Jennabard, can't remember which) posted CLUA commands on here...it's case-sensitive and you have to type in the whole thing including the words CLUA Console...look back in the thread for the exact stuff

OK Cheers all
Now this is really bizarre, the romance is at 2, and lovetalk is at 37 (which I think is supposed to be the max?). So, if I'm reading this properly, I've skipped a whole pile of stuff and stopped dead.
I tried prompting a dialogue by typing in,
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("Lovetalk",1),
but nothing happened when I rested, I've tried resting both outside and in an Inn, nix) Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I know, that Jennabard skipped the "lay with me" stuff, and got drectly to the committment, but I haven't got the committment speech.

looks like the lovetalks skipped ahead. think 37 is the max for the talks. you won't be hearing him again til the slayer incident. did you go though the quest about avenging his father's death?

Jennabard: Nope, I haven't got anywhere near the dead father thing. He received his knighthood, I got the flame speech, flower speech, his happy/uncertain speech where he expresses gratitude that I helped him. And that's it.
I also checked my other game in Suldanesselar, and the numbers are identical to this present one.
Now how in the blazes did I manage to skip all of that I wonder?????? Maybe there's a bug involved in the dialogue thread you choose. He seems very eager to win your approval/appear worthy in your eyes, so maybe my having thanked him, rather than saying that he was on his way before he met me, caused some kind of glitch?????
Weird.

haven't a clue dw
i don't think it mattered whether you thanked his complement or told him he was already on his way. i've played the game twice with both those answers and i have yet to get the him to run after his father. so i know its not the dialoge. i've downloaded kevin dorn's patch and manveru's patch, the offical patch, and i'm hoping that it will fix my buggy relationship. mybe we should talk to kevin if it persists?

Hmmm....yes, a patch would be nice. I actually emailed Kevin a little while back re: the Anomen Romance bugs, but I have not heard anything back.
Please keep us posted re:how the other patches work.
I don't know, some people, like Georgi, seem to sail through the Anomen romance with no trouble at all. I'd love to know what determines these types of bugs.
I mean, damn, after the flower speech I even made a quick stop in Trademeet (even had the weapon smith sharpen "Razer"

, talk about lack of gratitude!

Dragon wench (very cool name, BTW
![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/)
), I'll have a look with Infinity Explorer through the Anomen dialogs (I don't mind spoiling this one for myself so I'll spare the rest of you) and see if I can come up with a suggestion...
For the force-dialog code I have:
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("AnomenRomance","GLOBAL",1)
If you're not sick of it by now you might care to give that a go.

how is your computer?
i think, my problem tends to lie with my slow processor, and i'm having problems with win 95 crashing. i swear my computer hates me
but a visit to trademeet is very appealing, maybe some shopping of creamy essentials will perk me up.

@dragon wench - from what I can work out, you should have had the "I owe much of that to your assistance" dialog
before the flower dialog. And moreover, your Lovetalk rating should be at 31. Make sure your mouse pointer is over Anomen's portrait when you enter the command:
CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("Lovetalk","LOCALS")
(Sounds like some kind of magic ritual when I put it like that!
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/)
)
If it is in fact 37, perhaps you may want to experiment with:
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("LoveTalk","LOCALS",31)
- Again, with the mouse pointer over his portrait.
That'll be 50gp <cackle, cackle>

Thanks, for all the help Velvetfreak (and the vote of confidence on the handle, I like your's too)
Ok, I have definitely put my cursor over the portrait, and I'm definitely at 37. I also thought that I should have had the "I owe it all to you" dialogue prior to the flower thing. Odd....
I take it then that it's straightforward enough to switch the lovetalk to 31? Type:
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("LoveTalk","LOCALS",31)
and then do I hit
"enter" once I've typed it in?
Jennabard, I don't know, it shouldn't be my computer???? I have a Dell Pentium 3, 1 gigabyte processor (so it's blazing fast). Although I have had problems with Windows ME crashing the game (never had difficulties with 95 for some reason, guess I was lucky). I'm seriously considering ditching ME and getting 98.
I'm (obviously
![Big Grin :D](./images/smilies/)
)no computer techie, but I sort of doubt that 95 or ME would influence the game's romance dialogues??? But what do I know? I guess that processor speed could have something to do with it, but I'm way out of depth on this stuff, maybe somebody knows???
I just think that the Anomen and Jaheira romances are bugged (I worked through Viconia's fine during my first game). Maybe it's because these are the only two that actually endure through the whole game, who knows? Although why the bugs should affect some people and not others is a mystery to me.
But again many thanks for all the help. This is almost beginning to sound like an Advice column, "Dear Harem,......."

Whoa, I leave for a few hours and so many posts...
I can confirm, 37 means you're at the end of the dialogues, it should be set to 37 after the commitment dialogue. A couple of game days after that, you should get the messenger about Anomen's father being dead.
It does sound like something's not right. I think the dialogues should be in this order:
1. Dark flame (pre-Test)
2. Test
3. A glorious day it is! (that's the one where he says how grateful he is. I don't think your response can end the romance, but I don't think I have a pre-Test save to check)
4. Crimson rhodelia (should happen 30mins after 3, Lovetalk Locals should be 30/31 afterwards)
5. Lie with me (triggered on resting after 4, all the responses I tried set Lovetalk Locals to 33)
5. I have never been happier (doubts about whether Saerk will get justice, triggered 30 mins after 5, LL set to 34/35, don't think there is a romance-ending option)
6. Commitment (triggered on rest after 5, LL set to 36/37)
7. Several game days later, the messenger should come to tell Anomen about his father's death.
So exactly which dialogues did you get, in what order?

@Georgi:
my dialogues ran as like this following the knighthhod pass:
1. A Glorious Day
2. The Dark Flame
3. The Crimson Rhodelia
4. I owe it all to you
And that's it. Why my "lovetalk" is set at 37, I just can't fathom. Hang on! I think that he may have been dire charmed a couple of times, do you think that this could have screwed things up? I read that your love interest dying or being turned to stone can have an impact, so I imagine that head spells could cause problems. What do you think?
I'm getting very close to beginning again with my now more experienced paladin. Unless, I can rejig the lovetalk back to 31.

Ok, well, that is definitely screwed
![Roll Eyes ](./images/smilies/)
because the Dark Flame dialogue is the one before he says the time has come for his Test, and he says stuff like "it will not be much longer now"... so that happening after the Test makes no sense...
Can you be more specific about the last dialogue you had? I can't work out which of the ones I know of that refers to.
AFAIK the only way to disrupt the romance is for Anomen to leave your party (which happens when someone is changed to stone, they turn blue and you have to talk to them again before they go back in your party, but they remain in your party with all other spells). Anomen dying and being resurrected is NOT a problem... I should know...
Try resetting to 29, which is what it should be at the end of the Glorious Day dialogue. Command is as follows, make sure you have your cursor over Anomen's portrait when you hit Enter:
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("LoveTalk","LOCALS",29)
Then do
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("AnomenRomance","GLOBAL",1)
If you get the Crimson Rhodelia dialogue, it should be sorted.

BTW, I think Kevin hates Anomen as much as the rest of the world, so I can't see him wanting to make a patch, or wanting to play a game to test it!! Still, it's worth asking I guess.
Maybe we should advertise:
