I'm beginning to finally get a new favourite RPG now - a heavily modded Morrowind :) Unmodded its not a patch on BG2 SOA+TOB but modded it beats every game I've ever played.

It is annoying when it is up to the community to make a great game and not the developers :D

DesR85: Yes, I'm from Malaysia. You can probably guess how old I am based on the games I listed. Some of the people here mentioned RPG's that were out only a couple of year ago. They must be pretty young. Many only go as far back as to Baldur's Gate. Other games I love are KOTOR, KOTOR2, Neverwinter Nights, Diablo II, Dungeon Siege (yes). Also PS2 RPGs.

Yeah. I am one of the younger players too (I'm 20, by the way). :) As for other RPGs aside from Fable: The Lost Chapters, the KOTOR series and the Final Fantasy series, I can say that I did play another RPG called Prince of Qin, one of the worst RPGs I ever touched in my life and as what I've mentioned previously, that game proved to be the final nail in the coffin for my interest in RPGs. My interest was only revived when I picked up Fable: The Lost Chapters, though.

P.S. Thanks for the link, Fable. I'll take a look. :)

Yes. Me too. I stopped playing RPGs after Fallout 2. I switched to turn-based strategy games like the Civilization series. I started again in 2004 when KOTOR came out. I thought it was cool to play a Jedi. From there I went to play NWN since it is also by Bioware. I have since lost interest in TBS games and have not played Civ4. Since then I try to play some of the better known RPGs that came out after Fallout 2. Right now I'm playing Diablo II and LOD while waiting for NWN2.

Yeah, I can't help feeling that it makes the developers lazy though cos they know they can rely on the community to make mods to make their game great :(

Same here. I also have no idea if the Disciples series is an RPG or a turn-based RTS with RPG elements. :( I'll bring this up in the What is an RPG general thread. Perhaps I might get some responses. :) And yes, both Disciples I&II are great games I've ever played too.

I know you mean that as a joke, but it isn't clear from the lack of emoticons in your post, and flaming isn't allowed, here. So just give your opinion of your favorite game, and please don't belittle the opinions of others, per the forum rules.

All balanced

There is loads of RPG's out in the world
but when you come to think of it - not many of them are all that good!
what a good RPG studio like bioware or lionhead or blizzard need to do is make an all time shokker of an RPG with cobinations of fable diablo jade empire and other games. Anyways i think the following RPG's are some of the best ever

Fable
Jade Empire
star wars KotOR 1 & 2
Diablo 2 lord of destruction
dungeon siege 2
the eldar scrolls 3 and 4 (kinda)

this is the main games i like,
prob what other people like

Any ways thats enough about me

Best RPG I ever played was one from the Sega Megadrive, about 12 years ago......
It was a D&D game, scripted by Gary Gygax the Father of RPG, and it might have been called Warriors of the Eternal Sun.
That game was my first experience of an RPG on a computer (of sorts) It had mystery, some wonderful plot twists, just when you thought you had the game sussed, something would happen to turn it upside down. I absolutely loved it, once spent a whole Saturday playing, well into the night, completely forgot about a rendezvous I had with some friends...

Since then games have improved enormously in terms of graphics and sophistiction, but after a while most things come around, and you feel you've seen it somewhere before. I wish I could play a game that really blew me away like that original game, but I guess its like losing your virginity, you can never have that experience twice :p

Baldur's Gate 1. Technically BG2 is a more polished all round game but the first one just blew me away when I was 14 or so and still love it today. I probably learned more from BG than I did school.

FACTAMUNDO.

@Destinasi, I liked Magic Candle. Neat little game. :)

@ Maximus, I remember that game! I loved that game. I tormented the hill giants by using the terrain against them.

Baldur's Gate. It turned me into a CRPG/Forgotten Realms Novel geek.
