Played it before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very good remake of the original Tomb Raider, in my opinion.Mr. Pastorius wrote:Doing a second playthrough of Tomb Raider: Anniversary.
Enjoyed FEAR too. I just wonder whether the performance for Rainbow Six: Vegas have improved after the patches as I recall that several tech sites considered this game a hardware hog.Mr. Pastorius wrote: I'm going to get FEAR and Rainbow Six: Vegas soon as well. Gotta test the new rig.

I recall that one or two reviews mentioned that there are frame-rate drops in certain parts of the game but when Anandtech did a performance guide for that game (link), even the latest high-end card only managed to rake in 60fps on average, giving me the impression that this game looks like a hardware hog.Mr. Pastorius wrote: I can't say I've heard of any performance issues with Vegas. Then again, my only knowledge of the game is based on several very positive reviews, so I decided to give it a go.

After a couple of hours of playing, I see what you mean.DesR85 wrote:I recall that one or two reviews mentioned that there are frame-rate drops in certain parts of the game but when Anandtech did a performance guide for that game (link), even the latest high-end card only managed to rake in 60fps on average, giving me the impression that this game looks like a hardware hog.
I get an average of some 40-50 fps at near full detail (eye adaptation off, shadows on low, motion blur on medium) on my rig (C2D E4400, 1 gig of DDR667, X1950Pro) with rare drops to some 20-25 fps on very complex scenes. Compared to Stalker, though, I'd say those two games are similar by hardware requirements since both use dynamic lighting and shadows. Still, it's a great game.

Eh...After a RPG era, I had 4x era, and those two are switching in between, from time to time.
Beside Morrowind I play Galactic Civilizations II, which is in my humble opinion a 100% game quality, almost like a chess. They compare it with Civilizations, I did play that one too of course, but IMHO again, it's nowhere near.
Beside, I was and still I am a huge fan of Total War: Shogun and Total War: Rome > that's already TBS/RTS games...
Tried to play space shooters, but it was just boreing. I hope they'll make a decent space-battleship RPG one day, really, and I hope I won't be too old to play it...

In the words of the ancients, one should make his decision within the space of seven breaths. It is a matter of being determined and having the spirit to break through to the other side.
Recently I've been moving back and forth between Children of the Nile, Rise Of Nations, Neverwinter Nights 2, World of Warcraft, Hitman: Blood Money, and Guild Wars.
Children of the Nile is a city building game. So far its only o.k. I've only done some of the tutorials so far so I'll wait on final judgement until I'm into the main game. I'll this much about the game, combine a well built city and the excellent camera controls and you can make for some impressive screen shots.
Rise Of Nations has been fun so far. If you're a Risk fan then this game is a must.
Neverwinter Nights 2 has been fun so far. Its basically a better looking version of the original.
World Of Warcraft has been a blast. The Draenei are a blast. If you haven't played through the quest line on their island then I highly recommend it. They have been some of my faorites so far.
Hitman is nothing but sweet bloody fun.
Guild Wars is one of the better MMO I've played. One of these days I'll actually finish the campaigns instead of restarting and trying another class combo.
I gave Tomb Raider Anniversary a try. On the plus side the puzzles are well done and cliff diving is still lots of fun. On the negative the fighting is still as silly as the original and the boss fights are complete trash. I had the T Rex run full on into the spike traps and no damage was done. I quit the game at the centars. The adrenaline dodge was no use against them. No matter what direction and at what time they always nailed her with their shield.

The adrenaline dodge takes quite a lot of practice, especially at tougher enemies that don't die after a single headshot. I know the centaur fight drove me nuts first time through, but once you manage to effectively dodge their attack, it gets very easy. Try to strafe, that's usually the best method.Trias12 wrote:I gave Tomb Raider Anniversary a try. On the plus side the puzzles are well done and cliff diving is still lots of fun. Also, if you didn't already know, once you shoot one in the head, it will stop for several seconds, turning its shield handle towards you. Use the grapple to remove its shield, repeat the same procedure on the other one, and then use their shields to reflect their turn-to-stone attack back to them.

You can take a look at this walkthrough if you're stuck. If I remember correctly, in addition to Mr. Pastorius' tip, (Spoilers, please highlight) You will have to read the walkthrough I mentioned above to see how to defeat them.
Anyway, as for games I've played, I just finished Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault. I did try a Two Worlds demo but didn't really liked it. Same goes for Depths of Peril. Going to try out the World in Conflict demo soon (along with the Bioshock demo if I want to).
Spoiler
if you managed to hit on of them on the head, it may hold the shield in a different angle, preventing you from grappling hook the shield.

As for the Bioshock demo you've tried, is it the XBox 360 version or the PC version? Because I recall that the system requirements for the PC version is rather steep (another reason why I'm adamant in trying it out). After I try out the World in Conflict demo, then I'll think about it.
P.S. All threes. Wow. Cool number.

yes, its just a shooter, but the atmosphere is spooky and creepy...sort of a cross between the future and the 1930's...reminds me of futuristic city based on the New York of the old King Kong movies...and set underwater...
and we enjoyed it....

I've put in a good 20 hours with the Juiced 2 demo so far and i just got done playing a few minutes ago. Amazing game, or at least it will be when it comes out later this month (17th i think). The graphics are awesome and there's a contest too. I'm working on my video entry right now
Playing the World in Conflict demo for the second time. Really enjoyed it but had to enable a frame rate cap to prevent the game from crashing. Also found another factor that contributed to the crash problem and that is 4 malicious programs (1 trojan, 3 viruses) found after a virus scan. Removed them and now, I can play it properly.
