I deserved that by saying 'stage' right? So, interpreting all that - you're becoming predictable? *GASP*

@Fiona, please spam a little so he does not confuse me more with talk of stages... :D ;) [/QUOTE]

@Fiona, you should know what this is like by now. You can start your own topic at will. Or I could, is that monitor still giving you problems?

Ravager. Yes nothing with the other computer has changed. I don't want to do anything like get a new monitor till I'm sure that will fix it so I'm still on the laptop which tells me I've got critical errors about 4 times a minute.
In fact it behaves a lot like Phreddie :p

Uh, good question. I suppose when I have no choice, or when it gets closer to the coursework deadline date and if I haven't done enough, I'll have no choice. :p

Yeah, don't blame you. I'm not entirely convinced it is just the monitor it might be a combination, but as I said yesterday, your files should be safe in any case.
The crit. errors are just on the Internet?

As far as I know they are just on the internet. I don't think they are what they say they are but they are exasperating and nothing I do gets rid of them (not that I can do very much)

A bit of electronic advice:
If it aint broke dont fix it, but if it is broke, hit a couple of times and it should work, as far as i know it works with alarm clock/radios, television sets, computers, coffee mugs, toasters, weather satelites, the weather man, and spoons.

Okay, I assume you're using Internet Explorer?
You might be able to turn off those messages at least.
Try going to the Tools Menu at the top of the screen, Internet Options from there.
A window should appear on the screen and click the Advanced tab in there (it would be near the top-right of the window). Look down the list for a tick-box marked 'Disable script-debugging, if it isn't ticked, click the box. That should get rid of at least some of the messages...

@Phreddie, don't forget to add 'drop mobile phones down lift shafts'. They can still work after that you know. :D

Thanks Ravager. I'm using firefox and it doesn't have that option. Anything similar in this system?

I found it through the control panel and I've clicked it. And I haven't had a message for 30 secs. That's brilliant. Rav, you're a genius.

I don't know. I've never used Firefox. I only know it by reputation. There may be a similar option in it's menu system though. Look for any 'Options' or 'Preferences' in the menus. And possibly Advanced options in those.

Glad you were able to fix it. :)
You were getting that many messages?
Wow.
One less problem, anyway.

Yes literally about 4 a minute. I'm now getting about a quarter of that. But I seem to be on a loop which puts up a window (looks like a microsoft message) saying I may be infected with spyware and do I want to do something about it. No takes me to a spyware site; yes takes me to a spyware site. Close sets it off again. Aren't these people clever *combines admiring look with steam coming out of ears*

Sounds like the anti-spyware ad is spyware itself almost.
It's probably some kind of pop-up though. I thought Firefox had pop-up blockers?
If closing it sets it off, can't you just minimise it?
And clicking anywhere inside that window would get act like you clicking on a link on a Webpage.

Yes That box is ticked. I think the thing is in the computer somewhere. But it is a lot better now I did what you said. I can live with one a minute and, the loop has got bored for the moment. AntiSpyware is spyware. This happened to me before and I had to go back to the factory settings to get rid of it. Lost a lot of stuff then but I found a website which said it is quite common. Site gave instructions about what to do but it was too technical for me.
