YAY!!! I have a character!!!
Druga Entierdahl
Half-Elf, Sorcerer
Str 10
Dex 12
Con 12
Int 18
Wis 15
Cha 12
Has anyone else used the Character Generator from Wizards.com to create a char? That's what I used and am confused about a couple things in the character generation process... mainly, in this program it gives me 23 skill points to start out with for this char. Is that normal, or should I just ignore that stuff???

Oh, I see alright Weasel...
RE the Holy Grail. Would that be to be promoted or to obtain Council status?

If you say so.
I think most of the titles are kind of hard for people to identify with their rank. It's a bit hard to spot whether a "Defender" ranks higher than a "Servant of Nature". I myself would prefer something easier to recognize, possibly even as boring as "Sergeant", "Lieutenant", "Captain" for the Fighters...
Some ranks not yet mentioned that I could think of off the top of my head:
High Priest
Hierophant
Slayer
Blade
And some variations on the theme (which could apply to more than one wing, thus increasing recognition):
Surpreme <whatever>
Exalted <whatever>
High <whatever>
Master <whatever>
Arch-<whatever>
Wouldn't there be a way to get a single, generic word in your rank that describes your exact position in clear terms, then use a second word to specify your class? Like:
Surpreme (highest) Warlord (Fighter)
Master Defender (Paladin)
Apprentice Wizard
Journeyman Healer (Priest)
Master Troubadour (Bard)

I will humbly accept the position of second-in-command in the mage wing.

Yes, an empty Guild with Nippy as leader in every wing.

But seriously, determining whether someone has a good excuse may prove tricky... Not being online at the same time
is quite a possibility, after all.

The way to go, IMHO.

Maybe defeat someone of equal level and equipment? Advancement by challenge? Has some inherent problems, but no more than other systems.

Ned the Knife only wants one place ..

The Head of the Rogue guild
I have some people in mind I would love to stab in the back to gain this.

I like the suggestions Xyx.

RE the not turning up thing. I meant like an obvious reason or not e-mailing prior to the adventure that you cannot come.

Well something like, for a Paladin to become one of the council, or high commanders, he has to find the "holy grail" of sorts. The existing council sets a quest for the member, who is accompanied by a council member (For validity) and gets one try (no reloads) to acheive the task. This would take effect, say, after you reach the mid ranks. I dunno, it's just an idea I'm throwing around.

I think that penalising people for not being online at the right time is harsh; peoples computors might be down or peoples connections might be down (either case makes notifiying others difficult), they may be sick, have a personal matter to deal with or they may simply be unexpectedly busy.
As long as peoples absence is not consistant I think it should be ignored or at least forgiven!

I like the idea Aegis. We have to consider everything at the moment.

Don't get me wrong Sellsword I agree, what I meant was that If it is a work commitment etc an e-mail would be good to notify us. It happened to me playing BG2 multi. Three of us (local friends) where to go on Gamespy and meet in a private room but one guys sister broke her leg and he had to go to hospital. We thought he had jacked us off but he told us his sister got hurt and that was fine. I was trying to say if the fact that you couldn't come was a forsseable event then notification would be good.

Well, how about if we have an adventure planned, we e-mail the day before, and the day off just a double and triple check as to wheter we'll be doing it or not.

That seems good to me. Any other ideas out there folks?

I was wondering when Buck was gonna show his face around here!!!
As far as email notification, I think the best thing to do is for everyone to be flexible and communicate. I work a lo, and work some weekends, and depending on time zones and stuff I might not be able to join in on some stuff. And I'm sure a lot of others will have the same problem. But a simple email should suffice.

Theres always a place in the "Blades of the Banshee" for you. The only condition is that you have to listen to every order I give you!

Totally happy with the email notification idea, considering that I'm on the other side of the world. And lets not forget work and study commitments which affect us all.

OMG guys I have just come up with a campaign idea. Remember those posters in WW2 where it said "Your country needs you!"? How about:
"Buck Satan needs you!" what do you think?
