Man, oh man...what a game! 5 over times! 5! Man...Im so glad I was able to watch this thriller...
The game started with ANA having all the momentum and control in the game. They cruised to a 3-1 lead over DAL and seemed to have the game...but DAL chipped away at the lead and eventually tied it up after a long shot on the ice.
The first and second overtimes featured DAL creating their own oppurtunities, but Giguere was up for the challenge, fending off many repeated DAL shots...sometimes you felt there was no way DAL could EVER get past him. Blink, and some shots would have evaded you.
The third overtime featured the contraversy, but after a lengthy review, it was the right call. ANA got a goal, however there were views that showed the goal net had been jostled out of position, and possibly a kick of the puck into the net, however the kick was ruled out.
The referee called it a no goal because of the movement of the net's foundation, and after understanding the rule, I agree.
The 4th OT showed the fatigue everyone had...a much less offensive period and many offsides whistles. Players were obviously getting tired. But both Turko and Giguere fended off whatever shots were put on them
Finally in the opening minute of the 5th OT, Peter Sykora shot from the middle lane. It looked like it had been deflected a LITTLE, maybe JUST enough to evade Turko...regardless, it got in and ANA wins!
Well done to the Mighty Ducks in game 1 over DAL 4-3
Damn, that was exciting

Bah, sports.
I thought this place was meant to be a bar...how can you have a bar with no shine?
No

Whoa! Is that you, Ode? Heh...only the older members know about shine and purple beer.
And that avatar is a dead giveaway
(Please disregard the joke in the above line, as it was not intended....)

Let's not forget the Don Tybaltus episode...
I think the signature is an even more subtle hint...
I have managed to get my new password for my old account sent to the wrong email address
, and so have to use a new account until I can figure out how to get my old one back.
I've emailed Buck, but no reply as yet so I'm stuck with this new, minus-my-thousands-of-posts name.

So it is 2:30 in the morning here...what do you want from me? An essay on the numerous facts youve let down telling us you are Ode?
Yes, someone was complaining about that earlier...I think it was Z. As GB is evolving, changes are being made and things need to be sorted out.
Well good to have you back, if you are truly staying. GB hasnt really been the same without the core of the SLURRs. Thats when I was addicted for sure.
So while we are here...lets talk hockey...or baseball...or NFL draft...or NBA playoffs...or FIA WRC and F-1...or NASCAR. Im game for all of the above and more
Heh...me like sports

How about an essay on the sociological features of Karl Marx? That'd save me some work, at any rate...
I'm not staying long, it's back to Uni for me in a few days and I still have homework I should be doing right now.
I hate sports, so I think I'll dig up a real tavern thread.

Heh..no, I am busy trying to compare the etchings of Durer to the paintings of Joos Van Cleve, so that would be a bit of a change of gears.
Well we like seeing you around these parts. So stop by when you can.
You do that. But I wont follow.
EDIT-Besides, its late, Im off to bed.
For hockey fans: Look at the last page, I have an, albeit, brief recollection of the fantastic 5OT game with ANA vs DAL

So far, so good. I just hope TB can come back, though that looks really bad right now.
Could this be the year of the underdog? If DAL and NJ fall, then all we've got left are underdogs.
Could this be the most exciting year for playoff hockey? I mean how many OT games, total, have there been?
Shame that all the original teams are out of it, though.

F1 News
Damn, both Ferrari's on the the front grid. I taped the qualifications but only got a chance to watch it this morning. And I've come to the conclusion that Webber needs a better team, Jordan seem almost as bad as Minardi...
So with exactly 4 hours, 15 minutes and 10 seconds till the race, here are the qualification results.
1 Michael Schumacher Ferrari 01:17.762
2 Rubens Barrichello Ferrari 01:18.020
3 Fernando Alonso Renault 01:18.233
4 Jarno Trulli Renault 01:18.615
5 Jenson Button BAR 01:18.704
6 Olivier Panis Toyota 01:18.811
7 Ralf Schumacher Williams 01:19.006
8 David Coulthard McLaren 01:19.128
9 Juan Pablo Montoya Williams 01:19.377
10 Heinz-Harald Frentzen Sauber 01:19.427
EDIT- Schumi will win but I tip Alonso to upstage Barrichello to second spot.

Bah. Even if it means I'm the lone NBA fan here...
GO LAKERS!!!
Yes the Lakers gave Kevin Garnett another disappointing 1st round exit in the playoffs (for the 7th consecutive year). Too bad for Minnesotta...
If you're reading this Z-man, bring on the San Antonio Spurs!
