On the bright side, you could get another apology... :p ;)

I'm considering the SHG a small experiment on spam without me. One word: Slow.

[sings]Driving down the road tryin to loosen my load,
I got seven women on my mind.
two that wanna own me,
four that wanna stone me,
one says she's a friend of mine.,
Take it easy,
Take it easy,
Dont let the sound of your own wheels, drive you crazy.[/sings]

@ Rav: I'm actually enjoying the slow spam. It's . . . refreshing.

Dear lady, you have me confused.

So, which one of you wants to own, and which one wants to stone me?

Ok. I admit I am not sober. I have been getting drunk with friends and this has been the topic for much of the evening. It comes from a website but I am not sure where. If you have seen it please don't spoil it but give me a serious answer. It is in two parts:

1. Imagine you are in the position of observing a runaway trolley car from a booth which controls the points on the track it runs on. You can see the car and it is on track to kill 5 people if it continues on the line it is on. You have access to a switch which will divert the trolley to another track. If it is diverted it will kill one person only. Should you hit the switch and would you? Give reasons for your answer.

Please answer that before moving on to the second problem

2.
Spoiler
You are on a bridge and you observe that there is a runaway trolley car which, if it continues on the track it is on, will kill 5 people. You know that if a large enough weight is thrown in front of the trolley car it will stop and save the people. You have no weight available except yourself and one other person whom you do not know but who is standing beside you on the bridge. You are not heavy enough to stop the car if you throw yourself in front of it. However the person standing beside you is. Do you throw him off the bridge to stop the car?

Is your answer different from the first one. If so why is it; if not, why not?

#1) Yes, because it would be a spur of the moment kind of thing.

Now on to number 2.

Uhhhh When I'm drunk I'm thinking about happier things...

I frankly need to think on this one, but I feel there is a difference in the chances & probabilities...

1. No, it is not my place to step in the way of another's fate.

2. Yes and no.

No being the same as 1, yes being more based on what that person had said to me.

Can you give reasons? I would really like to know how you reached a conclusion

5>1

It's all logic. I'm a very practical minded person.

I wouldnt throw myself in front of it, though. What benefit do I get from stopping a train if I die from it?
