Howdy y'all
It seems this place has become the unofficial discussion thread
(It's interesting what you find when you do a search on your username
)
And I'll remind you yet again, Xandax, that he was a MYSTERIOUS mage (duh, duh, duh!)
Ok, back to BG2 I go...

@Magus-I think I'll leave my first encounter with Void to you, if you don't mind

No problem. His behavior and motives can be difficult to understand if you don't know him well.

Rolling Thunder (TM) - The Mobile Party Thread
**Rolling Thunder (
tm) - the Mobile Party Thread crashes through the mouldy walls of the ancient tavern to bring new life to the shadows of the past.**
We are HERE !
**takes the engines down from "peak performance" to "maintain standby power" and starts unloading party equipment while the Rubber Duck on the hood of the Big Black Mack truck still quivers from the inital impact**

Ok, since we have arrived... spill the story, Kam. Reformat your hard drive? How come? ** finishes his mug and helps out Beldin in unloading the truck **
EDIT - @Kam: can't reply to your message, due to the problem you mentioned. Beldin and me couldn't access the forum at first. I hope Buck sorts it out soon. Will send the updated sigs then.

*crawls from the roof, falls on the floor, and goes to get a couple of headache pills* Good thing I was wearing my seatbelt, eh guys?
OK, the story: Everything was working (relatively) fine: i.e. all the computers were on the network and able to comminicate. We were just copying a few things across the network, useful utilities and such. Well without knowing that another person was doing a 500MB copy onto my HDD, I started a game called LightBikes - a pretty fun freeware party game, but rather unstable. My computer crashed. I had to hard-reset. Then my friend told me that I'd just crashed his computer because he was copying to it - I didn't think much of it then, until my computer froze on the reboot at "Verifying DMI Pool Data...", the bane of anyone who's ever worked with computers. So...the boot could be failing anywhere from that verifying to the actual start of the windows boot process. I rebooted again and tried F8 for the Windows boot menu. Couldn't do it. I booted off a boot disk, which worked fine, and then attempted to do a reinstall of Windows over the top, which is what I usually do (Windows ME
) A couple of things about the install were a bit strange: the Scandisk it ran only detected my tiny 40MB hard drive that I keep in my computer for nostalgic reasons
p). Then when Windows was looking for space to install, it couldn't find any...even though there was plenty of room on my HDD. So I did what I should have done a while before:
A:\> c:
Error reading drive C: Invalid Media
Abort, Retry, Fail?
AARRRGGGHHH! God knows why this happened, I suspect it was to do with the network copy but I have no way of knowing. I had to reformat, losing all my music, my NWN and Morrowind saves, my Quake 3 custom .cfg files...all of which I obviously never backed up. Damn. Now in the process of trying to get back everything I had before - it's a slow process. At least I was able to get the computer running again to play more UT at the LAN party...
Hmm well that took a good while to post - was GB down or something? Or was it just my computer...

@Kam: "verifying DMI pool data" does ring a bell... that sucks big time, man ** pours Kam a shot of J.D. ** GB was down for a while and then there was the problem with posting/sending PM's. Looks like everything is ok now, though.
@Mah: things seem to have gone a bit awry on the forum today
** hands Mah a Red Dragon porterhouse **

Hmm as if the times on the forum being about 15 minutes behind for the past half a year or so wasn't bad enough, now the time is about 3 hours behind...have you noticed this too? I might email/PM Buck about it or start a thread in GB Discussion...
*takes a welcome drink of his JD* Thanks, mate - you had no idea how much I needed that

Yup gb was down for sure, couldnt access it for a couple of hours.
Now it seems fine.
Oh yeah i have computer problems as well.
But i can fix them hopefully.
My modem is shot at home so no internet.
For some reason my computer says my optimal DRAM should be 133 instead of 100.
When i put it at 133 from BIOS, my windows doesnt load.
When i put it back to 100, my windows has 2 alternative Rundll32 working in relation to power management and setup.
Reformat here i come again....

Now I really can sympathise - at least you can back important stuff up though...sorry if I sound a little jealous
What speed is your RAM? Is it 100 or 133, or a mixture of both? Have you added any recently or did this problem just develop on its own? IIRC, you don't need to have any rundll32 working on your computer, but I've never heard of two running simultaneously...

** orders Dusty to pour Fas a cup of Earl Grey - Extra Strong ** you're not the only one with computer problems, so it seems...
@Kam: hadn't noticed yet, but now that you mention it... at the moment I'm just glad I can finally get back to posting some replies. BTW, I figured as much...

Thanks, Eery.
Well, I just PMed Buck about the glitches we're experiencing.

Kam it starts off as 100, then i enter bios change save and reboot as 133.
When it is 133 windows doesnt work at all.
Well actually kam i havent saved anything.
It seems to me that i had the virus/hack weasel mentioned in the tech forum, with 2 rundll32 working on the computer and slowing my computer down.
So all i have is my word doc.
everything else, mp3s, saved games, TDD etc deleted.
I recently installed the Gf2 card and that is it.
But this has happened before so i just switched back to 100.
Now i will have to see what happens when i get home.
Thanks erry...it seems to be a weird summer for sure from where i am looking at things...computer problems, friends etc...more like a depressing season than summer.
