Aegis for a guy who really doesnt agree with me on much of anything... we are 100% on anime. Bebop rocks, series finale is the best part of it...

And Chronical of the Heroic Knight is awome..

My only issues with Chronicles is the discrepancies that are so evident in the story, if you had watched the OVA's. For instance, and I apologize for these spoilers, King Kashue's roll in the War of Heroes, the actual roll of Pirotesse and Ashram, Ashram's sacrifice for Kardis, and Parn's origins. Aside from that, though, the story is magnificant, as is the animation. The english version, though, bugs the hell out of me. I can't stand Lisa Ortiz as a voice actor, and think she ruined Deedlit for me. Too whiney.

GAKKOU NO KAIDAN

GAKKOU NO KAIDAN - School Ghost Stories

Actually I planned to do coverage on /Hack Sign series, yet due my RL business I still can't make time to opne the boxset and see it :( I happen to see this on a channel for several days, hence I put this up to fill up the vacuum.

Satsuki Miyanosh1ta and her younger brother Kei-ichiro move from Tokyo to their mother's hometown after she dies of a long illness. In this new town they soon discover that the old abandoned school near their new school is plagued by every kind of demon, spirit, and monsters.

Later on the family cat, Kaaya, is taken over by a nasty demon which allows him to talk, yet can never be trusted ! To save the town as well as their own lives, the siblings along with their new friends friends Hajime, Reo, and Momoko form ragtag team of ghostfighters. Using only their mother ghost-diary and their own wits they must solve each case which sometimes endanger their own lives.

GAKKOU NO KAIDAN is perfect for Halloween night entertainment. Even you can even watch them with your kids (if you have) screaming as the scene thrills you that you ask someone to escort you to the bathroom  . If you want another horror genre anime you can also try Haunted Junction

So the anime thread is back, I'll just add that some sick and twisted individual has had the audacity to reveal that the Dragon Ball Z franchise will be made into live movies, rumours have it at 4, but the offical DBZ site just has a reference to movies. I liked the first few series of DBZ, but transitional Hollywood style movies suck badly and this one will be a huge flop. I hope it doesn't get past the script developmental stage...

You mean, you don't think casting Jennifer Lopez as Cell will work?

WEll, if you won't I will. Hack Sign is a great concept, with some decent animation, but the way in which it's presented is a tad bothersome. The basic concept is the main characters are merely people playing a game in an online world called, uninspiredly I might add, "The World". The manin characters, consisting of Tsukasa, Subaru, Mimiru, Bear, BT, Sora and Kurim, all follow a 12 epidsode arc in which the basic plot is established.

While the "World" exists in a fantasy setting, it mixes elemens to reality through the mentioning of the real world, and such, which I feel detracts greatly from the feel of the story. Everytime I'm about to get really involved, I find it cuts to a reality moment, which ruins much of the mood.

It was an alright anime, with good potential, but certain aspects of it held it back from being truly great.

Anyway, at some point, I will get my impressions of Ghost in a Shell: Stand Alone Complex up, as well as one for Chobits, Ai Yori Aoshi, and FLCL Furi Kuri. :D

Ironically, I was listening the opening song of Ai Yori Aoshi, Towa No Hana, when I read your post. :)

I am enjoying Ai Yori Aoshi very much. It is really such a sweet story. Perhaps I am a bit biased because I am watching it at the same time as SaiKano, which is unbelievably heart-wrenching and disturbing. Much more so than Grave of the Fireflies, in my opinion.

Chobits was one of my favorite series (I have the parts of the manga series as well) and FLCL, Stand Alone Complex, and Hack//Sign, Hack//Dusk and Hack//Sign:Liminalityare all on my list to see, so I will be interested to read your opinions. ;)

Well, Hack Sign I'm not overly impressed with, but I've only watched 13 episodes of it. It might get better.

As for FLCL Furi Kuri. It may only be six episodes, but it is some of the funniest stuff I have seen. I won't give too much away right now, rather go into in more detail later, but I do recommend it.

Ai Yori Aoshi. That works much on the popularity of Love Hina (One of my favorites). The concept is similar as is the situation. Another good series.

Chobits. I was iffy at first about this one, but as I watched it, and Chii began to larn more words, it became a very funny anime, though I was sort've disapointed with the end. I think He ended up with the wrong girl, but thats just me.

Stand Alone Complex. This is one of my favorite running series. It's currently only up to episode 15, but it is very well done. I won't say much more until the end of the series, but I do recommend it.

Now, to digress. I'm gonna mention something about my favorite two anime movies. Vampire Hunter D, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. These are must see movies. Both deal with D, who happens to be whats called a Danpeel(sp), and take place 10000 years in the future. The land has changed greatly, reverting back to form of feudalism, mixing technology and medieval aspects. Many of the ruling class happen to be Vampires, but their power is slowly waning. Anyway, thats a brief synopsis. I'm reluctant to go into too much story detail, as I don't want to spoil either great stories, but I can recommend these two.

I recently watched three anime series, and I am just here to give my thoughts on them and maybe ask a few questions.

1) GTO: It stands for Great Teacher Onizuka. This is one of the funniest anime series I have seen so far. It's about a ex-motorcycle gangster that wants to be a teacher so he can have a shot at innocent school girls. Although the premise of the story may seem disgusting, but in execution, it's very funny as the story creates some pretty awkward situations. It's not a believable plot, but the characters are pretty well-developed, and the anime has a heartwarming touch here and there without overly asserting some kind of moral lecture. The humor is not exactly smart, but sometimes very crude. But what the hell, it's just funny.

2) Golden Boy: Another hiliarious series, although there's only six episodes. It's about a very talented and dedicated man who just happens to be very perverted. He wanders around Japan on his bike, searching for hot women. When he finds one, he works for them. Initially the women reject him, but at the end of each episode, they always love him. The story is beyond believable, and the characters are very, very under-developed. However, the situations are very funny, and Kintaro (the protagonist) has such a wacky and conflicting personality that it's really interesting to watch him mess up. The humor is very crude, and mostly male. However, if you can stand it, you'll be greatly entertained by the mindless humor. It's either love or hate.

3) Hellsing: It's a very cool anime about vampires and vampire hunters. I like the artistic style used: it's very gothic, very dark, and brooding. The main character is the coolest character in the anime. His style and way of speaking is just so freaking slick. But the anime suffers from serious plot gaps, under-developed characters, and weak villains. A lot of things were unclear, which leads me to believe that there is going to be a sequel. Which brings to my question: does anyone know if there's a sequel to Hellsing?

Feel free to post with your 10 list ;)

I lay easy on Cardcaptor Sakura since I understand some of the female audiences like the story anyway. And seems like the writer try to write the story for female audience like Candy Candy :)

As for the other two - yes they are bad, but I limit the list into 10 - if I come out with 100 anime you'll be surprise what'sion the list :D

Hehe. I'd rather make a list of the Top 10:

1. Cowboy Bebop
2. Vampire Hunter D
3. Record of Lodoss Wars (both Chronicles and OVA's)
4. Love Hina
5. Ghost in a Shell - Stand Alone Complex
6. Ninja Scroll
7. Ai Yori Aoshi
8. Noir
9. Onegai Teacher
10. Trigun

Ones that almost made the list are:

Chobits
Escaflowne

Note: All these are ten times better subbed.
