[QUOTE=Ravager]Isn't there a football team called Porto? I just seem to remember that...
Maybe that explains it, because I'd heard of Porto but not Oporto before.

Och they're football crazy
They're football mad
And the football it has robbed them of
the wee bit sense they had[/sings]
Ben Fica, apparently. I might be wrong. But an ungodly proportion of the houses are decorated with the football flag, it must be confessed
@ Greg. Bye

We've already discussed the fact that Rav is a traitor to his country because he doesn't like and takes no pride in futbol.
On a smiliar note am I the only one excited for the World Cup?

*shrugs* Whatever.
Do I have to support every single team that represents my country to not be a 'traitor' now?

Respect for people who can kick a ball in different directions around a field in front of a crowd earning respect and tons of money? While the rest of us actually work for it? Oh, yes, I have the utmost respect for it...

Ohh, it wouldn't matter to me whether I had it or not. In a year or two, I'll go into the industry proper. This is more of a stop-gap job.

**** free speech.
(and **** censorship!!)
But seriously, the debate of free speech has been going on in the Netherlands and it can simply be shut down by me saying: Free speech ends when there's no respect for others. The Swastika is an obvious and blatant violation of respect and you know it. The symbol is not to be jested with or to be taken lightly. Now, don't say such a silly thing anymore.

Not good enough. Respect is not specific enough in his context. Free speech is not about respect, desirable though that may be. It ends only where you can show harm, perhaps. What we call fighting talk is harmful. The swastika, unless reclaimed as a Hindu symbol (I believe it started there though it might have been backwards), is fighting talk and that is the problem. It is not about respect, it is about the harm that it represents, IMHO

Fighting talk would be equally unspecific. When's something fighting talk and when's something racism? "Tulips must be exterminated" is something else than "Tulips are (IMO) far inferior"? The first one can easily be seen as fighting talk, where the second is an opinion... Or is it? Where do you draw the line?
That line should be within the area that we call 'respect'. It is not only ideal, but also very much possible. If you can't do that and you really think it's necessary to have such disrespectful views, just register at stormfront.org and have a nice respectless conversation with the other incontinental pissers, in all respect.
Free speech doesn't mean you can just say anything that is on your mind.
"Let common sense be your guide" and "be respectful to other members". Those sound like quotes from some bible, but they are key to peace, understanding and tolerance, where any disrespectful outbursts aren't helping anyone, ever.
