Fine, thanks.

Still trawling through D&D reference material.
*mumbles* Hmm, which dragon to put in....:mischief: :D

Or there's always a tarrasque....

So are you online DMing or table top?

Oh, I'm taking over the campaign Kipi has been running on GB.
It's quite the learning curve. :p
My first experience at DM'ing too.

Well, word of advice. The first rule of DMing is:

Fun shall be had by all.

All other rules derive from that, adventures should be challenging and risky but never outright deadly, and remember one thing above all: you are not the PCs' opponent, you play the PCs' opponents (and also their allies, and the neutral people). I learned it the hard way. ;)

Ahh, thanks. :)

I take it you sent some unfortunate characters into an impossible situation? :D

That, and other mistakes like:

"You can't do that!"
Bending the rules or forbidding the PCs doing something (that you hadn't foreseen) because it completely upsets your carefully planned adventure, or gives them an unforeseen huge advantage.
If it is possible in the circumstances and not against the rules, one should allow it and wing it.

Vengeance
Sending massive enemies against the PCs because they foiled your carefully laid plans.

Deathtraps
Crushing ceilings and the like with no escape.

And in general anything that seems that you steer the PCs in one or the other direction.

No vengeance? Darn...I could think of the perfect example too... :( ;)

Hmm, sometimes it's hard not to steer, when the situation is very open-ended.

Oh I didn't say you shouldn't steer. Only make sure it isn't obvious. :D

Of course, on-line your options are more limited (no smug grins from behind the DM screen or random rattling of dice :mischief: ).

I've been trying to write up a campaign lately. I used to be pretty good at it, but for some reason now I just can't do it. I have no idea what the problem is... I simply just can't get it together.

Is it Forgotten Realms -campaign you were trying to make?

No, I make up my own little worlds and stuff, and just use the Greyhawk deities out of the Player's Handbook.

Edit: Also, I have a general idea for an adventure. It's just putting it into a story line and expanding it beyond a single episode of action that I'm struggling with.
