...Ecklopia's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region...
Well, as they say, recognising children's accomplishments encourages them to repeat the behaviour. At least we're getting something right.

Civil Rights: Very Good -raised eyebrows- Oookay...

The People's Republic of Qasama is a very large, pleasant nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 62 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The enormous government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 34%, but much higher for the wealthy. A small but healthy private sector is led by the Door-to-door Insurance Sales industry, followed by Information Technology and Book Publishing.

Teenagers across the country are celebrating the defeat of a national curfew bill, long arduous trials are held for the most trivial of offences, female newsreaders distract the nation by breastfeeding during broadcast, and people of faith are sent to twelve-step programs for 'The Cure'. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Qasama's national animal is the politician and its currency is the rice Krispie treat.

At last; progress.

What'll you do if they don't take to The Cure? :p

If they don't take to 'The Cure,' I can send them to your concentration ca... I mean, hospitals, where you treat your people for having VODAIS.

Oh, and I'm on this issue now where a political cartoon spurned citizens on to throw hot cheese at politicians. I don't really like the choices; I want to allow free speech so long as it doesn't lead to physical violence (they took fondue and threw hot cheese on people, for crying out loud), but I can either say "Yay free speech," "Nay free speech," or "Outlaw cheese."

The People's Republic of Phennispharren is a large, socially progressive nation, renowned for its strong anti-business politics. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 32 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded morass -- is mainly concerned with Education, although Social Welfare and the Environment are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 42%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Book Publishing.

Heavy industry must go to expensive lengths to dispose of waste and avoid even more costly cleanup costs, public footpaths are being slowly eroded by the burgeoning number of ramblers, the government has undertaken a massive education and health program to combat VODAIS, and the Phennispharren Automotive Racing Series draws millions of spectators annually while those near the tracks complain about the noise. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control. Phennispharren's national animal is the black hawk, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the danayem.

Phennispharren is ranked 568th in the region and 79,613th in the world for Largest Furniture Restoration Industry.
I'm so proud. :D :p

reporters often lose their jobs over fact-checking errors

That worked out well :)

At least your reporters don't bare all, like mine. Female reporters are often breast-feeding right in the middle of newscasts.

Black market book publishing? What sort of things are they publishing that it would be on the black market? Smut? :p

All that means is when a drunk driver sees a cop in back of him, the driver won't stop until death ;)

My scientists continue to push the limits.

The Issue

Scientists have announced they are close to a breakthrough in their quest to revive the feather-bellied politician, a species related to Qasama's national animal that has been extinct for more than a century.

The People's Republic of Phennispharren is a large, socially progressive nation, renowned for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 40 million enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded morass -- concentrates mainly on Education, although the Environment and Social Welfare are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 43%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Book Publishing.

The Phennispharren Automotive Racing Series draws millions of spectators annually while those near the tracks complain about the noise, drunk drivers are sentenced to death, soylent products are an expensive commodity due to a lack of volunteers, and sex offenders find themselves 'cut off' from any ability to repeat their crimes. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control. Phennispharren's national animal is the black hawk, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the danayem.
Aww, I no longer have a Liberal-Democratic Socialist state. :(

Just had my first definite repeat issue: sky-rocketing divorce rates. A chance to legalize gay marriage again, I suppose.
