Shana, you are misleading everyone. Your comment is only partially correct. To make it accurate, it should have said something to the effect of:
American women do not enjoy cheesy pickup lines that they realize are cheesy.
And considering the intelligence and comprehension skills of some of those valley girls out there, a lot of pickup lines will still work on some women. And the relative attractiveness of the guy doing the pickup line also has an impact. For a lot of women, a gorgeous guy could blather about anything and she'll drop her panties (literally), but a normal looking guy can say the absolutely perfect thing and she'll blow him off (the off is very important in that sentence).
By the way, I don't have much respect for stupid or shallow people, but I don't know if that came across very well.

@ Darzog. Oh I think you got your view across. Women and men are sooooo different, it seems

I don't think men and women are all that different (in this respect at least).
Some people, men and women alike, are shallow and/or not too bright. These type of people can be woo'ed by anyone that is good looking and confident. And sometimes it doesn't even matter if they are confident. Some guys will go out with a woman they think is hot based only on her looks, and some women are the same. Some guys can be manipulated and used, as can some women.
Some people, again men and women alike, have other priorities and need to find a better connection with someone (intellect, hobbies, personality types, religion, etc). Looks still help, but they become less important than whatever else they are looking for.

*nods* Fable can have that effect sometimes, looks like it worked out in this instance.
Umm, can't believe I asked you what you thought I should do to an empty board....that has to rank highly on a list of bad ideas.
