I know, the effects of your decisions are entirely inexplicable. I've chosen to not put in sanctions regarding minorities in TV (ie. force directors to make sure minorities are depicted in a positive light) and movies and I made a catholic bishop my religious director. The result?
The Grand Duchy of Scardale is a small, socially progressive nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 8 million enjoy some of the most
opulent lifestyles in the region, unless they are unemployed or working-class, in which case they are variously starving to death or crippled by easily preventable diseases.
The medium-sized government is mainly concerned with Social Welfare, although Education and Healthcare are secondary priorities. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 10%. A robust private sector is led by the Gambling, Automobile Manufacturing, and Door-to-door Insurance Sales industries.
Organ donation is compulsory,
the alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit,
the government is seen to favor Catholics, and euthanasia is legal. Crime is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Scardale's national animal is the raven,
which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the bit.
The new bits after those two decisions are in red. Go figure.

I still wanna know how tariffs were abolished. What issue could that possibly have come from? God, that was soooo long ago (36 hours, 4 mixed drinks [yes, five days after I swore off alcohol forever, I found myself quite merrily drunk], and a whole lot of other stuff). But that bugs me; I would never agree to do away with tariffs.
But I noticed your inhospitable landscape upon my return and was like, "What on earth did he do to get that?" And BS has that bit about the racist show, which I thought was odd; seeing you with it too made me chuckle. But the best part was reading how your govt. favors Catholics and tacked on there almost like an after-thought "... by the way, euthanasia is legal."

@ JonI: they're discussing Nation states, an online game where you create a nation and try to guide it's political path.
@ Tony & Chim: it does say in the FAQ that simple decisions do give extreme consequences, resulting in an extremer version of what you actually want (and thus supposedly adding to the fun). I changed category almost after every decision I took.
And I'll have soon nude people walking about my streets too.

Now see, that costs money though. I'd have to create some kind of ambiguous choice on tax returns to see if anyone would fund it, and would be inexplicably funding the army.
Ugh, I'm on the TV question now, and my brain's too fried to decipher any of it.
