The hobgoblin grunts in acquiescence.

"Why am I so interested in that mine? Well...ahaha, maybe I'm being overly concerned and worry too much! Perhaps it is just nothing...."
Not bothering to give his reason to the guard, Halgrath tries to lighten the mood of the conversation with a friendly smile...
(do i need to roll for charisma check or something here?)
Not sure how the guard would react, perhaps it's better to move out and seek the drow.
"Well, thanks again for your help. Maybe i should get going now"

Roll Diplomacy...which should be...*looks it up* 1d20+1 for you.

(I rolled the diplomacy as darkwolf is going to be away for a bit)
The guard's attitude seems to lighten a bit, "Well, thank you fo your concern, friend, but you can be assured that we have the situation well in hand. No measly goblins will pose a true threat to our homeland or the mine. Maybe I can send word to Quanzar and he'll be more willing to see you. Anyways, talk to you later."

Noticing the priest and the guard finishing their conversation, Lucifer moved away from the shadows in which he had been waiting and walked toward the priest.
"Halgrath?" he called out when he was within earshot. "I met your friend Kron earlier here in the city..." he took out the piece of parchment Kron had cast his Arcane Mark on and offered it to the priest "...and I will be aiding you in this little quest of yours."

Walking towards the mines, Halgrath was surprised by a stranger suddenly approaching him from out of nowhere.
Scruntinising the paper, he noticed an odd mark on it, though not one he really recognised, "You say Kron gave you this?"
This stranger may well know Kron's name and his own, but that didn't mean he could be trusted with their lives yet.

Hearing his suspicious tone, Lucifer cursed to himself. How had he not forseen this? It could well be that Kron and Halgrath had never even seen each other. Even so, the priest seemed to recognise the name "Kron", so at the very least they'd met. Lucifer decided he would have to trust that Kron had spoken truth.
"Yes, he told me that mark would be proof enough for you..."

Well, he seemed to be telling the truth....perhaps he'd just give this stranger the benefit of the doubt for now.
"Well, tell me a little about yourself, stranger. And where did Kron vanish off to?"

The sudden change of mood caught Lucifer sliightly off guard. Was this priest really that naive? Oh, well... Lucifer wouldn't complain. It could well be that the priest's forgiving attitude had saved them a fight.
"My name is Lucifer." he said and managed a miserable excuse for a smile. "Kron said he'd go back to your camp outside the city, and that I should help you finish gathering information." raising an eyebrow, he continued "He didn't really tell me what it is that you are planning to do, though."

"You want to help, though you don't know why or how? How odd...
So, why are you here? I know you have a note and a message from Kron, but why go the trouble of finding me?"

"I don't know why, but he didn't seem to want to meet you here in the city... he ran off before I could ask him why. He thought it best that you and I finish gathering information, and then return to the camp." Nonchalantly stuffing his hands into his pockets, he added "I saw you at the tavern, and Kron apparently noticed me watching you, and he managed to pique my interest in what you are doing... and I've searching for a reason to get out of this backwater town."

"So, why don't you gather a pack of equipment and go adventuring the countryside or join some mercenaries?
What do you hope to get out of this?"

"I'm just that lazy, all right?" was this really the same person who had waltzed into that tavern and started spouting secrets all over the place?

Fine then. I don't think there's much information that i'll get by asking the town people. I do, however, have an idea of where to go next. Let's go meet up with Kron so I can fill in the details for both of you"
Not much left by 'interrogating' their new companion, Halgrath left it at that. He was going to seek out Kron anyway, so all should be clear then.
"By the way, what are you doing here in this town? Are you a native?"

Lucifer hesitated somewhat before answering.
"Not a native, no... but I would rather wait to tell more than be forced to repeat it once we find Kron"

Having paced around the perimeter of the camp once more, Kron resumed to sitting down. He could not handle the wait much longer, and hoped that for his sake, Halgrath had not beaten Lucifer senseless. Suddenly there was a rustle nearby, with Kron rolling out of sight just in time. Halgrath appeared, followed by Lucifer. Stepping back into sight, Kron said, "Well it appears you have finally made it, so what have we learnt?"

"Ok, i'll go first with what i could piece together. Basically this is a mining town, though the main export is metal. The folk here doesn't seem to know anything that may lead towards the jewel or gem that we're looking. But, there seems to be some unusual goblin interest in their mine...
So, the goblins that had attacked us comes to mind. Perhaps we might find something in the mine..."
Points at Lucifer..."Oh, would you mind explaining what all this is about Kron?

Lucifer raises an eyebrow, but says nothing yet.

"Him? Name's Lucifer. But I'd better give some more information than that. Not knowing the nature of the town, I had to ensure it was safe for you, as I did not want us being caught. I cast an invisibility spell and trailed you to the tavern. Once there I watched as one person listened intently to what you had to say. After you left I confronted him, to ensure he would not cause danger for us. Thinking he would know some information, I filled him in on the details. My choices then were to either have him join us, or dispose of him. This way at least made it easier to keep a clean cloak. However, there is something else that I promised to discuss. My background." With that, Kron withdrew the cloak revealing his heritage. "I am a Dark Elf, a Drow if you will. I chose not to reveal it earlier for fear of a reaction, but I shall do so now. Lucifer, you can decide how you react to this." Despite maintaining an aura of calm, Kron brought to mind the necessary incantation for a magic missile spell.

Lucifer twitched. So that was why the accent sounded familiar! Why would a drow be in league with the priest who is obviously good? What was a drow doing above ground at all? Lucifer mentally shook his head. This was getting him nowhere. If Kron wanted him dead, like all other drow he'd met, surely he would've tried already? A knife in the back at the inn, for instance. And he was traveling with the priest... Lucifer glanced at Halgrath. He didn't seem surprised at the revelation, so he must have known about it.
Lucifer decided to trust him, for now.
"All right, then!" he said in Undercommon, and grinned.
