Well lad feel free to make your own review and post it here if you happen towatch that anime. I've saw most of that anime you mentioned but, making review takes time. And for now the phrase "so many anime to review, so little time" is appropriate on me

Well I'll go with Elfen Lied since most of the others are at least known.

Violence... lots of it
Some casual nudity

Brief Synopsis:
There are creatures called "Diclonius" who have incredible destructive powers. They are kept in research facilities in order for the safety of mankind.
One of these called "Lucy" escapes from the facility through excessive force and makes it to the mainland, but is shot in the head before she can quite make it. Wounded but alive she washes up on a shore and is found by two college students (cousins) Kouta and Yuka who try to help her out. Her head wound has given her a dual personality... one of a simple minded girl (Nyu) and one of a violent killer (Lucy).
Over time more diclonius come to the place where Nyu/Lucy stays and join/attempt to cature her. Leading of course to some vicious battles etc. There is some sort of intertangled relationship between Youta, Kouta and Nyu/Lucy that is prevalent throughout the series.

Hehe. That's right. If you want to take KidDo's place (big shoes to fill in this regard), reviews are a must. I think he's the only one who actually watches and has access to more anime than myself, on these forums, and that's saying something

I don't... I was just planning to list some interesting anime that I've seen... But the good point that simply listing them isn't quite adequate I decided to review some of them that you two haven't gotten around to.

EDIT: Oh yeah check it... this is the silliest anime plot I have ever seen... haha silly Korea.

I dont know about Cowbot Bebop. i dont see why everyone likes it so much. that and wolfs rain.

Fooly Cooly? Do you mean 'Furi Kuri'? If so, it's one of the most off the wall anime series out there. It's only six episodes, but it's wild. Definatly a fun time. I'll go into more detail later.

As for Vampire Hunter D, that and Bloodlust are two of my favorite animes out there. Definatly ones for the fans of the occult. Again, more detail later.

Cowboy Bebop is one of the greatest out there, for several reasons. The character and plot are incredably well developed, leading to a powerful blend of roles and story telling. It's one of the animes where the viewer really attains a feel for Spike and Jet. Not only that, but the animation is fluid and seamless, and tied in beautifully with the Jazz/Operatic score. It does everything right that is supposed to be in an anime.

Wolf's Rain is good, but definatly not on the same level as Bebop. The animation is still incredably well done, but the story has a tendency to drag on, especially around episodes 15-18, which are all dedicated to recapping the story. Add to that that one needs to see the follow up OVA to see the true ending, it makes it somewhat tedious.

ah i see thank you for helping clear that up. its good but not an all time fav. id vote trigun over Cowboy Bebop anytime.

and Furi Curi or Fooly Cooly was on cartoon network so thats the only reason i know it as FLCL. it was funny even though it was only six episodes.

I enjoyed Trigun, but it didn't catch me the same way as Bebop. I found that the animators could never really decide on a way to potray Vash, which resulted in an odd mix of chibi and serious. Combined with the tension breakers throughout the series (most specfically earlier on), I found that the flow of the series was too disrupted.

not only that, but I thought the story was decent, nothing stellar.

Ok, great I'll keep checking this thread then.

Its no longer showing at any theatres here, a few universities run anime movie nights but they won't get their hands on it for a fair while.

Very true. I once came upon an incredably horrible subbing of Cowboy Bebop... I cried.

Is it just bad, or did they almost rewrite the script? I HAVE seen some subtitles which have only about 50% similarity to what the characters are saying...

In Hong Kong, if you say you don't know what Full Metal Alchemist is, people start looking at you funnily...

Parts of the script were rewritten, the names were all wrong, and even as someone who knows a minimal amount of japanese, I could catch mistranslations. It was a bad experiance.

Cowboy Bebop is good I agree
Trigun was good for a couple episodes but then it got worse and worse. It does however have one of my favorite intros.

Vampire Hunter D I liked but I thought the spouting gouts of blood were a bit over the top for me. (I dont need to know how much blood a person cloven in 2 can spew and at what speed)

Agreed, Saint Seiya also a big hit there. Some company even make copy of original action figure made by Bandai and sells them very cheap. Don't expect it's the same with the original one though

Same thing happen in Phillipines, if you say you don't know what Voltes V is

Any of you saw Conan, Boy in the Future yet ? The drawings are average, yet the story quite good. Impressive to see how Conan is - reminds me of Songoku of Dragonball Z

For the translation of Nausicaa I saw, half the time they added dialogues where there weren't any, and where there IS, they don't add subs or dubs.

I swore a vow to kill the person who did that translation. In the most painful way possible.

Approximately 6 years ago, in primary school. No, I'm serious. The whole series in tape. Three times. The tapes have probably expired by now, but I remember the whole thing like I only watched it yesterday.

The character drawings do not resemble later Miyazaki films so much, but those familiar with Nausicaa and/or Laputa WILL find the airplanes familiar. The background is also quite similiar to Nausicaa.

For Anime enthusiasts, I am back in the New Year, and with new titles!

The line up for this month is looking as such:

Starting us off will be a follow-up project to the ever fan favorite Trigun, GunGRAVE. The Madhouse Production has shown us in the past what they are capable of, and with Trigun, they spawned something horrible (that being my buddy Ken, who insists he is Vash the Stampede. I had to fight through a crowd of women just to talk to walking testicle at Anime North

), as well as immensely entertaining series. With GunGRAVE, they've given the naive, innocent hero routine a rest, and decided to focus on something slightly more dark and brooding. This will be the first title I look into this New Year.

Following up, will be Berserk. Now, to be brutally honest, at the moment, I know next to nothing about this (as well as the next title I will name), aside that it has attained a favourable following. Hopefully there will grounds for that following, and look forward to reviewing it.

Lastly, this month, I'll be peaking into the work that is Star Ocean EX. A science fiction piece, to roung the Mafiosa and Medieval picks above. Everyone needs a good sci fi now and then. I hope this one will deliver.

As usual, if there are any requests, feel free to post them, and I'll get to them ASAP.

For those of you who are fans of the PS2 game, Xenosaga, I just stumbled across a new series you'll be interested in. Namco and Monolithsoft have teamed up to create an anime series based on the game. Here's the article I dug up for it.

Xenosaga anime series to air in Japan
Sci-fi RPG will be used as the basis for an upcoming TV anime series; will first air in January 2005.

TOKYO--Namco and Monolithsoft will bring their popular PlayStation 2 sci-fi role-playing game Xenosaga to the small screen in Japan. To air on the Asahi TV network beginning in January 2005, the anime program will be titled Xenosaga the Animation and will be based on the first installment of the Xenosaga trilogy, Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht.

Some of the more noteworthy creative staff behind the project includes character designer Nobuteru Yuki (Record of Lodoss War), mech designer Hiroyuki Taiga (F-Zero: Falcon densetsu, Beast Wars Transformers), and director Shigeyasu Yamauchi (Ojamajo Doremi, Knights of the Zodiac). The series will be produced by Toei Animation.

I haven't had the chance to play the game myself, but I will be following the anime (as the first episode just aired) and give an update as it moves along. From my understanding, it supposedly moves along very closely to the game.
