Darkpoet carefully touched the earrings, he studied them closely.

"You could put them on, with the necklace. Then touch Menadir, if he doesn't die. We know it's not deadly."

Menadir, rolled his eyes. He started to say something but didn't.

"You said your fingers tingled? That sounds like it has some healing qualities. Where you touching the necklace, also?"

“Not at the same time. I could feel the magic and I didn’t want to set off anything too powerful.” T’lainya cast a sideways glance at the two men. Then she took a deep breath and performed the same basic procedure on the necklace that she had on the earrings.

Darkpoet and Menadir reached for their weapons as T’lainya was bathed in a soft golden light. The necklace and earrings shimmered, the tiny motes of light rising like a cloud of pollen from the metal flowers. The crescent moon she wore at her neck glowed in sympathetic response to the magic, mingling tiny blue stars throughout the gold light. The mystic energy swirled around her and enveloped the two men near her. Just as suddenly the lights flickered and then seemed to sink into the trio, absorbed by their skin.

“It seems your idea was correct. That was healing magic.” T’s voice softly sounded through the quiet room. “What have you two been up to while I was preoccupied?”

Observing the exchanges between T'lainya, Dark Poet and Menadir, Dragon Wench supressed a smirk. Curious, she ran a finger down the cavern's rough wall, and found to her surprise that it was warm to the touch.
"Odd, " she muttered to herself, "this should be cold."
The caves perplexed her, she wondered what their function had been, and why the Keep had been constructed above them.

"Maybe there is a connection to the ruins, she mused..."

"My friend and your cousin, leaned on that set of armor over there." Darkpoet pointed to the armor next, to an opening.
"when he did that, another passageway opened. We found a huge armory, then speedy over here." Darkpoet pointed his thumb at Menadir.
"Set off, a cleaning spell. So, we are sitting here, drying off. Did you really, change Menadir's taste for two months, just for scaring you?"

Menadir had enough of Darkpoet's mouth. He whispered to Darkpoet, loud enough for T'lainya to hear.
"Hey Dp, good thing she didn't find out, it was you that put the snakes in the tub."

Darkpoet, was taking a drink, when Menadir whispered to him. He choked on the brandy, coughing he glanced at Menadir. Menadir smiled and said, "Gotcha." and went to check to see if his clothes was dry. Darkpoet looked at T'lainya, he spoke slowly to make sure the words, would come out right.

"T'lainya, it was a long time ago. I feel really bad, for the pranks, I did to you."
He had a feeling, it wasn't going to work. He got up to check his clothes.

"Hmmm, I think those clothes, should be dry now."

“You did that?” T’lainya’s eyes flashed and she seemed ready to retaliate. Then she noticed Dragonwench and the others watching with various degrees of amusement. Shooting Darkpoet a look, she said, ”We’ll talk about it later.” Then she glared at Menadir. “Don’t think that you’re completely innocent in all of that.”

Menadir’s gaze was wide, showing the violet color of his eyes. “What did I do?”
“If you hadn’t encouraged everyone to join you in your practical jokes…”

Darkpoet started to interrupt. “Tlainya, I’m just as…”

“Hush, I said we’ll talk later.” She turned back to her cousin and then grinned. “Besides, just what do you think I put in your food to make it bitter?”

“You didn’t! You put snake oil in my food?” Menadir stood there staring at his cousin. Then he threw back his head and laughed. “I wouldn’t have ever guessed that was what you put in my food.”

T’lainya smiled at her cousin. “Are we even?”
Menadir thought for a minute and then quickly agreed when he saw the impatient look on T’lainyas face. She turned and gently touched Dp’s arm. He looked slightly worried, so she gave his arm a gentle squeeze. She leaned back against him and closed her eyes for a minute.

Darkpoet's pounding heart, slowed a little. He was waiting for T'Lainya to explode, but she didn't. He start to feel a little better, but the worry was still there. Dw and Viv, decided to go and check out if they had any secret passages in their rooms. Menadir, mumbled something about, he needed to get drier clothes and check on the others.

"Um Menadir, y you going so soon? Aren't you going to finish your brandy?"

Menadir turned, he gracefully bowed.
"You have nothing to worry about, my good friend. You are in good hands, I don't think that T'lainya will turn you into a toad. Though, I think it would make an improvement. Take care you two."

Darkpoet gulped his brandy, feeling it burn all the way down to his stomach. Then sit there, like a hot lump. T'lainya, snuggled even closer.

"Do you want to see the armory???"

T’lainya called her cousin back for a moment and whispered something in his ear. They smiled at each other and T hugged her cousin. He made one more bow and saluted them before he left.

T'lainya lazily turned her head to Dp. “Show me this armory. If you trust me that is.”

Darkpoet laughed and helped T’lainya to her feet. ”Ummm, should we bring a towel, in case the cleaning spell goes off again?”

T’lainya laughed. “I think I can figure out how to work it. I hope.”

Darkpoet laughed too. “I hope so, I’m running out of clothes.”

Loner remained dumbstruck for a moment. Hitomi had closed his eyes again, and it was as if he had never said a word to her. He recognized her somehow, and the resemblance to her own master, Lomoro, was too great to be a coincidence. She leaned forward, closed her eyes, and held out her hands, letting them hover just above the region of Hitomi's heart. His ki field was so strong, even in his physical weakness, that Loner staggered for a moment, but resumed the reading.

Finally she sat back with a deep breath. She felt a bit dizzy. She had learned that this man was indeed connected in a strong way to her own teacher, and deduced that they were twins. However, Lomoro had never mentioned a brother.

At length Loner looked over at Nippy, with a confused expression. "This is your master, yes?" she asked, then told him what she had discovered. "What I want to know is, how does he know me?..."

Darkpoet pulled T'lainya closer.
"I trust you, with my life." He said, then gently kissed her on the nose.
"We can see the armory, anytime. Lets sit and enjoy the fire."
As Darkpoet sat, he questioned T'lainya.
"Why the sudden change, I was waiting for a bucket of mud or something gooey??"

T’lainya smiled at Darkpoet, and gently traced her finger around his jaw line.

“I trust you too, with my life, and with my heart.”

She rested her head on his shoulder, watching the crackling fire in silence.

“You asked why I didn’t retaliate for the snakes. That was a long time ago, and I suspect my cousin was the instigator for the whole thing. I’m also sorry for the fact that you were hurt because of a practical joke. I think there has been too much pain in your life recently, and perhaps not so recently.”

Her voice trailed off slowly, as she waited for his response.

Darkpoet grimaces at the word pain. He gently, ran his finger along the top of T'lainya's ear.
"There is aways pain. More so, in some places. You know, when I was younger.I had to prove myself to your cousin. Just because, I looked more human, than Elf. I got more respect, after knocking him on his butt. He stopped insulting me, to playing practical jokes. Then he included me in on the jokes. We became like brothers, training together, hunting, scouting, tracking, and picking on you. If one of us, had a problem, with some of the tests. The other was there, to help out."
Darkpoet leaned his cheek on T'lainya's head. Breathing in the scent of wild flowers, he stared at the fire.

"I don't think, Menadir meant the she-bear to be there. I didn't realize, that he claimed the bear as his kill. I left, because I didn't feel like I fit in. Even know, I was born there."

"Well he talked about the Katana of Doom, maybe there is a connection there?"

--------------------

Meanwhile in Kara-Tur Loromo was meditating, suddenly he realed back, almost like he had suffered an electric shock. He knew a grave dander was coming, he told everyone in the monastery to leave, otherwise they would be killed.

--------------------

"Loner did you hear what I said earlier? Loromo may be in danger, should we go get him? The tarrasue could close in at anytime."

clink, clink, clunk

“Jasper ain’t a real gem, is it?”

clink, clink, clunk

“I mean ya can’t even get a decent prostitute at the Copper for one a these,” the halfling man spat through missing teeth into the fire, but nevertheless placed the three gems into a bag on his belt. “It weren’t hardly worth the trouble ta kill those two.”

“Hey, they looked like nobles to me,” the short human said as he continued to use his thick, dirty fingers to pick bits of rabbit gristle out of his teeth. His face was unshaven and scarred, and his hair fell into his eyes. Finding a bit of rabbit that wouldn’t come out, he used the tip of his short sword to pries it loose.

A muffled voice rose from a robed figure with a wide-brimmed pointed hat over his face lying against a tree, “Would you idiots shut up? I’m trying to rest.”

The halfling grinned a toothless smile, “Aw Tully! I think we’re disturbin’ Freddy’s precious beauty sleep!”

“Yur right, Felder! You know these great mages like Freddy need a full eight hours jus’ ta cast a little caltrip!”

“The name if Friedrich, you morons,” the robed man said moving his hat, “and you sure didn’t mind me sleeping two days ago when I took out 15 kobalds with one fireball.”

“We was makin’ mincemeat of those kobalds. We didn’t need you,” Tully said kicking at the fire.

“I don’t know, Freddy might be right. You were looking a little panicked there, Tully.” the halfling quickly picked up a burning branch, just in case Tully attacked him. Tully just looked sullen, so Felder changed the subject, “Where’s Tippy? I haven’t seen her since we made camp.”

As if on que, a thin dark woman wearing brown leather and an eye patch stepped into the light of the fire, making Tully and Felder jump. Friedrich remained unperturbed. “A bloody bear could sneak up on the three of you,” she scowled, then she turned to Friedrich, “There are two men camped on the other side of the ridge.”

“What do they look like?” Friedrich said, his interest peeked.

“Leather and staffs. One of ‘em talks real high-and- mighty.” Tippy put her bow down and grabbed a haunch of rabbit.

Tully and Felder looked at each other, “Leather an’ staffs don’t sound like much to us.”

“Indeed,” Friedrich said, placing the hat back over his face, “We’ll rest tonight, then check them out in the morning. If they’re still there, maybe we shall have some recreation.”

T’lainya was silent, a thoughtful expression crossing her features.

“I don’t think Menadir realized the bear was there, his tricks are embarrassing but not generally harmful. I suppose I was more acceptable to everyone since my features are decidedly elvish. My cousin always stood up for me, even when I didn’t think it was necessary. My training encouraged understanding, not confrontation if at all possible. The attitudes you encountered are common, the feelings of not belonging, in either society.”

She paused, wanting to say more, but unsure of how to continue. Settling back into the silence, she rested against Darkpoet. She gripped his arm sympathetically, lending him her quiet support.

"Hmmmmm, I'm not worried about it anymore. I have friends who except me as who I am, and I met you."
Darkpoet wraps his arms around T'lainya.
"Did you put a spell on me, not to notice you? While I was in the village."

In some way, Lomoro's brother recognized the essence of the Katana in Loner's ki field. But that was all she had time to register. "I'll go as soon as I speak to Kramor," she told Nippy, and swiftly left the room.

In one fluid motion, Thantor followed Georgi onto the bed, mounting her, as he began to explore her ear lobe and the curve of her neck. He could feel her fingers digging into the small of his back, pulling their pelvises togther as she arched against him. He kissed her hard on the lips, bracing himself with one hand while the other craddled her head. She is so moist and warm, he thought to himself. The wildness of Thantor's unrelenting kisses sent shivers down Georgi's spine, her thighs parting and encircling his waist as she began to remove his shirt. As he pulled his arm from the sleeve, however, she saw him wince noticeably and this gave her pause. Reaching up to touch the side of his face to get his attention, she looked at him for a moment, concern in her eyes. "I am not sure we would survive such fierceness," she offered, teasingly. Thantor sighed, shifting his weight onto one elbow to lessen the pain from his now throbbing wounds, and came to rest beside her. Disappointed, he still managed a sad smile. "And here I thought the torture was over," he said lightly. Georgi grinned, and kissed him fully on the lips. Then she bent her head close to his ear and whispered, "If you think that, you have a lot to learn about me, Master Thantor."
