Hmm.... this new avatar isn't distinctive enough. If I scroll quickly up/down a page I can't see which posts are mine at a glance.

It's only a true LotR party if you dress up and play some form of RPG at the same time.
Sing-a-longs are also accepted.

Only if you play in costumes.
Costumes can be discarded if any dice-based RPG is used (like D&D or similar).
And "They're taking the hobbits to Isengard" should be looped repeatedly from the other room to give a good ambiance.

Unfortunately my wife isn't as into games and particularly not strategy games.... we don't mix well playing those games. I've tried to get her interested in playing Fortress America (which I loved as a kid) but she just doesn't care.
We played this one game one time with another couple called Scotland Yard. After playing one round (in which I caught Mr. X pretty quickly) I was Mr. X. My wife and the other guy weren't even close to me and they had no idea how to get close to me. The other woman was actually doing a good job and towards the end of the game when Mr. X is revealed for one turn she was only a couple spots away from me and told the other two how to block me off so it was impossible for me to get away.
I made the comment "Well at least someone knows how to play this game."
Um, I think that was the wrong thing to say.

They need to make a book for people like me to teach me these things before I say them.
Or better yet, how about a SIM game where you can test-run your comments and see how the women respond before uttering them in person?
I can't decide if I like this new av any better.
