Oh, nice reaction.
Hmm...spamming. Thinking that I should either be doing some coursework or looking for an internship but can't really be bothered. So, it's the usual really.
What about you?
From one lazy-ass to another: I sympathize brother
.
I'm looking for stuff to do, will probably go out later but I'm bored to tears until then. All my friends like to do their coursework saturday afternoons and I don't. It's a dysfunctional situation here, but I refuse to be the one to budge

Hehe. Thanks. Even though you're calling me a 'lazy-ass'.
Well, I suppose it's true.
I have to the beginning of February on my first coursework, so I'm not in too great a rush yet.
There's better things to sympathise with me on though. Like on Monday, I'll have to get up before 7am, catch a train to London get registered to some boring event with everyone taking computer based courses (maybe 200+ people) at 9am. That's everyone at the same time. Then they're putting us in groups for the week and we have to go up to the University every day of the week to register or we get penalised.
And the best bit, I have to pass next week as part of my degree course. Got to love universities...lovely waste of my time and money.
Ah, hello Aramant!
Um...triste? Shouldn't that be trio?

*Takes a good hard look at Arament's avatar* Surprise
!
I actually didn't which was odd, but I haven't been feeling well all week. I'm better today and we all know what that means: SoCo Saturday!
*Dances*
@ Rav: Aww that blows dude, is it a convention type of thing or a seminar just for college kids?

It's a week that's supposed to help us in the 'world of work' or something.
Pretty much all I know about it was in my last post. They're not revealing much about it.
I think my university is the only one that takes a whole week out of it's schedule for this kind of thing...joy.

No kidding. Some time before January 30 I have to take it upon myself to visit a wineyard and a winery cellar... so I can do a photo essay. What the crap. Not only do I have to pay for the course, and pay for the material cost of wine used in the lab, but I have to pay for my own wine tour, get a camera, and have photos developed. Incidentally I'll also have to pay for a cab to take me out of town so I can find a wineyard and a winery that'll actually let me take pictures. Granted I'm in the Niagara region, so there's an ungodly amount of wineries and stuff around... but I'd rather not shell out $40 for a round trip to one of them.

*Tries to keep a straight face*
Well maybe it'll, uh, be useful to you. Really teach you some, umm, necessary skills and provide the, heh, sense of worldly perspective that is often absent in modern education...
*Bursts out laughing*
I'm sorry, I'm sorry I couldn't hold it in... Aw well, are there some friends or peeps you know going to it too?
@ Arament: Well that sounds vaguely interesting really, but the cost does suck. I can't believe they don't set up a trip or something, or at least get you a discount.
...Wait, isn't it the middle of winter Ar? Wheree the hell are you gonna find a vineyard open for a tour? Are you just looking at the stuff indoors or what?

@Aramant, I'm glad that the university hasn't had any of those kind of field trip idea, though I'd bet they would do exactly the same.
@Tony, 'Skills Week' (yes, it really is called that) applies to virtually ALL of the university, so yeah I suppose so. I have no idea who will be in my group though. Maybe some people I know but I doubt it. It's only 2 people on my course per group.
Last year wasn't too good either, you know. Think this one is bad, do you?

Ain't you never heard of ice wine? But seriously. Here's the instruction:
Part I. Using a camera (doesn’t have to be fancy!) select a vineyard in Niagara. Respecting the farm being careful not to injure or disturb vines,
take a photograph of the vines, including shots of the rows, pruned and non-pruned vines, and netting (if possible). In a scrapbook, mount the
images and identify the following:
• The direction in which the vines are planted (north/south/east/west)
• Distance apart between rows and between vines
• Label the pruned and non pruned vines and describe and label the nature of pruning (type of pruning, number of canes, number of buds,
AND WHY, etc.)
3
Part II. Select a winery in Niagara and arrange to take a wine tour of the cellar. Ask permission if you can take photos, then locate and shoot
an image of the following and label in your scrapbook (try to choose a winery where the harvest equipment is not stored for the winter):
Hopper, crusher-destemmer, press, settling tanks, fermentation tanks, holding tanks, filter,
bottling line, and if available: open-top fermentor, basket press, oak barrels, Icewine press
Explain briefly what the function is of each in the process of winemaking. Distinguish between the making of white wine and red wine.

Well I guess it isn't that bad, but I haven't been to any such things yet myself. I think there was something similar back in november, but I was sick at the time and was exempt. Didn't seem as bad as your's: I think they called it a 'workshop'. I had a nasty bout of the flu, I get sick waaay too much
.
@ Ar: Damn, that's a lot of crap
. Are you goin into the winemaking business or something?

Ooh, look! A slight get-out clause. Think how much work it will cut down, if you find some stubborn person who won't let you take photos...
@Tony, I remember workshops...
Did they force you to attend with the good old blackmail that you have to pass this or fail the whole course etc?
