I think there weren't such thing :D :p

Currently I'm not learning anything special there, just practising my leader-skills and such...

By leading :D

Basically, I'm the one of the two sub-leaders on my ship, which means that I'm the link between the "seamen" (what ever is the correct english transaltion...) and regular staff... This also means that I have authority over these seamen. :D

Ummm...sailors, perhaps...

No seamen is ok, I think really

I often wondered about this. I have some difficulty in imagining what a "leadership skill" might be. But I know it is highly valued.

You forced me to make this check...

Look at the bottom of the picture, "Rank and File" section, the one in the right of those three ranks...

Well, we have been trained in "Deep leading", which is very contrary to the US style "Shout-their-brains-out"...
It includes to get known the soldiers you are leading, getting known their advantages and weaknesses and using that knowledge to get most out from the group and so on...

I see. It makes some sense. Though from what you say it seems there are different theories about what is effective? The US model is very different?

YEs, there are different theories and yes, the style (which is as far as I know very accurely shown on movies ;) ) in US and here are like black and white.

Obsidian made mention of his view one time and it seemed similar to yours. But I think he is Canadian. He values camaraderie highly and I think that must reflect a similar style to yours? Or perhaps not. Maybe they produce it by giving the rank and file a common enemy in the officer in the states?

Well, that's not the way it's working here.

In our model we try to make most out from group of soldiers by taking account their specialities. Ie if someone is very good at using rocket launcher, then that person is assigned to that task and so on.
Also our moddel contains the idea that by knowing soldiers and been kind to them (not too kind, there is the catch why this model is so damn hard to use in reality), we are able to take more from their potential and to put it on use. Also, if soldier trusts and respects his/her group-leader, then (s)he will be more willing to complite the assignments given. And this trust and respect can be gained by the methods mentioned above.

Of course, this is just basics of the model, and it's much deeper.
