Grr...my connection went down and I sneezed my tea all over the place (the two events were not related)
Originally posted by dragon wench I totally agree.... Once a complete stranger asked me....and being in a rather...ahem...foul.... mood.... I decided to concoct an advice-column style sob story..... The individual backed away really quickly..... Admittedly, I was being somewhat evil in doing that...but it does demonstrate the insincerity so often behind the question.......
Yes, sometimes it feels necessary to make a statement. I did a similar thing once, when of my friend's father asked me how I was doing, and I replied I was depressed. He then started explaing to me this was not the type of reply that was socially acceptable and expected. (I should mention my friend came from an extremely snobbish and wealthy business family) I got angry, and in turn explained to him that he shouldn't ask if he must have control over the answer - instead, I suggested he should just say "hello" instead.
I also agree with DW and Georgi about Mother day, Valentine's day and similar social occations. It just a commerical game, and I do not wish to support or participate.

About the sig I made a claim that Foul wasnt as dangerous as he looked and wouldnt bother anyone who didnt provoke him, even if that one was a puffin. G forced me to prove it.
I should have guessed G-force was involved, you wouldn't have come up with something so clever all by yourself!
I like people with social inabilities, I think it's boht funny and thought provocing when people say too much and the wrong things. It makes people think and question things they usually take for granted. You should meet one of my best friends Dottie, she has no conception of social rules at all and that makes her one the funnies people I know. She says what she means however inappropriate - I like that.
by Georgi @CE so what you're saying is you need therapy?
Not at all - the conclusions of my self-therapy were:
1. If you can't change yourself, change the circumstances (ie other people, your workplace etc)
2. I'm a lousy therapist and I should stay in research

@CE good thing that wasn't related, it would be very messy if you sneezed tea all over the place every time you lost your connection
Fluffy and kind, yeah, like a polar bear I imagine, they look so fluffy and sweet on film, but in reality they are fierce predators that look at you as a goretex-wrapped seal.
LOL They could theoretically have been related - reading about nose bleeding in excitement in another thread here, I suppose one could sneeze out of anger. Grr, I wish I wasn't stuck with this horrible and dysfunctional modem connection, when will my stupid broadband connection start working?

LOL You're sure you don't need shock therapy?
I should have guessed G-force was involved, you wouldn't have come up with something so clever all by yourself!
Well of course he could, he's not as daft as he looks...
@Dottie see, I'm trying... *hug*
@CE are you saying polar bears aren't eminently cute and huggable?

Im not really sure if I should feel insulted or not.

Yes, I like that as well. In myself however it manifest itself more as contempt for what other persons are saying rather than contributing to a wider social standard like your friend.
