@Ty, I think it's the current trend in the NFL, so the Panthers should beat the Bengals in the Super Bowl this year :D

Actually, I have a real good feeling about Miami, IF Ricky can stay healthy, they should be a dominant force. Also, Pittsburg should win their division hands down. Sorry, but I think Buffalo got ripped in the Bledsoe deal :D

I think the redskins will make the playoffs, and likely get beat in the Div or Conference round. Bears won't be as good this year, so I look for the Rams to return or San Fran to give them a run. GB will be dangerous if Glenn decides to work this year

@AC... Your placeholding? You're planning astounds me. I hpe your going to post something interesting...(I read your dislikes in the anatomy thread.) :p ;)

It took me a minute to realize you did all that "your/you're" thing on purpose. :D :p

ROFL-Right those Panthers are going to be mighty tough to beat.

Miami is a good pick, I think, but again, I am going to wait in the weeds until the pre season is almost over. Pittsburgh is the only stong team in the reformed devision. While I feel Pittsburgh was a fluke last year, they certainly are better than Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Baltimore.

The AFC south looks interesting, its a bunch of teams that should have been good last year, but struggled, plus Houston.

I dont know about the Bledsoe deal. You think he really is done? I hope he does well. For all he has done for the Patriots, I hope the best for him. I think the trade has rejuvenated him a bit. I expect him to do alright but not great. He is certainly better than Rob Johnson. Buffalo created its grave when they got rid of Flutie and replaced him with the inept Rob Johnson. Speaking of Flutie, do you think he can recapture San Diego's 1st half last year, for the entire year this year? I hope so. I think San Diego will be around 8-8 this season, but again, I will make these calls after the post season. I look forward to the debates we will have over football, BS. :D

:D Nah, it's just a question education really. Ask me about non-European history or mainstream popular culture like TV series and stuff, and you'd see I would appear more stupid than Aerie because I don't know those subjects.

@BS: Sounds like you are very knowledgable about American football then! I'm fine too, I have finally got rid of the cold that have pestered me for over a week.

@CE More stupid than Aerie?  Id hate to imagine that. Maybe youre right. I would probably get the hang of it, but only after a couple hundred headaces, a few sleepless nights, and quite a few pounds of aspirin ;) :D

@AC LOL :D

@Ty, I agree with the Bills shooting themselves in the foot with Johnson. Still, I think they would have been better served picking up a young QB (Ramsey) in the draft. Even if you say Bledsoe still has some milagem you have to admit, in another couple years, Buffalo will be right back looking for a QB again. :D

I don't think Flutie will start past the middle of the season if he lasts that long. Same deal as Bledsoe, Fluti doesn't have many years left, even with him SD won't be in the playoffs this year, and Drew needs the experience. I think his best role would be as mentor to Drew. :D

@CE, nah, I just BS my way through football. ;) That and it consumes my life diring the fall  I am very glad to hear you feel better

@AC...LMAO. I admit it, I walked into that one. Your very perceptive today ;) :D

You are right about Flutie and Bledsoe aging. I think San Diego was wise to take LaDanien Thomlinson in the draft last year and have Flutie as the quarterback. I think LaDanien is one of the best runners out there-hes got plenty of potential and he is learning the tricks of the trade, look out for this kid. And I know they passed on Vick, and Vick is going to be very good, but I would have gone for the running game in that situation. Over the very long haul, I think Atlanta got a better deal but in the next 5 years, Vick isnt going to shine as much as LaDanien will, barring injury. I have to go for Flutie all the time though, he lives in a town that is a neighboring town to mine, and is a mere 20 minute drive away. So he is the local star. (Speaking of sports in my town-Babe Ruth lived on the street next to mine) Ramsey is the running quarterback from Clemson, right? I dont see him doing what other young quarterbacks will do. I think Harrington and Carr are the rookie quarterbacks this year that have the most potential. I like what Harrington does, I followed him 2 years when he was in Oregon. And Carr took a losing team in Fresno and turned it into a bowl team by mostly his own power.

I like Vick, but the Falcons got the better of the deal. thomlinson should be around for a long time, and they did get a QB with I think a lot f potentiol in Drew breeze in the second round. I think that one draft set them up for a couple years down the road.

Watch out for Ramsy. The kid has a gun, and he has Spurrier to groom him. Give Washington a couple more drafts, a few free agency moves, and watch out. Everyone is talking about Spurrier's offensive style and will it work in the NFL, I say it already has. There isn't much difference between his game plan and the Rams. And Ramsey has the right arm to excel in that type of offense. The rams were even considering drafting him for the future I think. Harrington has two problems, he plays for the sorry Lions, and they also like Mike McMahnon. carr will be good, but this years is not the Texans year. If they hit 4-12, they should be happy.

Dont you mean the Chargers got the better deal?

If the Lions are smart at all, they will get Harrington ready to play next season. This is his learning year. Make sure he gets in a couple plays in a game and if the Lions are out of the playoff picture at the end of the season, start him every game. I think if Harrington gets in as much as practice as he can and learns a lot, he will be at the same level of Payton Manning, eventually.

BTW-I notice you are painfully close to 5k posts and I still have been anxiously awaiting AC to hit 1k-I think she is going to create her own cellebration for that, and I am looking forward to partying! :D

really? hmmm.... *offers AC a beer and pulls her seat out for her to have a seat* let me know if you need anything else :p :D

@Ty, yeah I did mean the chargers  I get ahead of myself sometimes. I thing if you get a young QB, you need to play him. You can learn a lot on the sidelines, but you can't substitute for xp on the field. I'd start him immediatly. I don't believe in sitting a yound QB and "grooming " him.

I also am going to rant a little bit on a pet peeve of mine. QB's need to be more old school. They need to be able to call their own plays. I was reminded of this watching Jim Kelly today. I think that part of the game has been lost, and I am not sure it is for the best. The way I see it, their the ones on the field, actually in the rythm of the game. They should have a feel for the way things are going. Give them some responsibility. besides, it would sure make them more of a student of the game. If you know you are gonna be responsible for calling your own plays, you would have to spend more time on the mental aspect.

Just to be Devil's advocate, we all know that a couple of these "sure thing" first rounders are gonna flop. I think it will be interesting to see in a few years which QB rises. It wouldn't surprise me to see either Harrington or carr flop big time. Just look at previous top picks like Leaf and Mirer.

You think Carr or Harrington will be a Leaf or Mirer? I dont know about that. Could happen, though. I would hate it, because you would say "I told you so". That would suck. I think you might be right about the old school quarterback. But as a younger generation fan, I cannot talk about "the good old days" but I know what you are talking about. I have been a fan for 7 years now. And have watched the superbowl for 12 years.
