I just heard that the deathtoll at the Pentagon is between 100 and 800 people. Isn't that an awefully large range? I had heard earlier that there were fewer people in that part of the Pentagon than there would've been because they were preparing to remodel that wing. Does anyone else find this odd?

@Azeroth: We all know your mad right now, a lot of us are. I think, though, that it would be best if we don't get overly excited on the Forums, as in the past that has led to undesirable situations. I think we just need to remain cool and level headed, and think of all those that suffered today. Make no mistake, it's alright to be mad at a situation like this, I just think we need to set an example for others, whether they see it or not.

I only just woke up (it's 1.00pm here) after watching what was happening on TV last night. I'm in Australia and things started to come through just before midnight. I stayed up watching right through till 7.00am this morning. I have to keep on reminding myself that this actually did happen, it just feels totally unreal to me. I am sorry for anyone who has friends/family that was in the towers/pentagon/planes. Although I am not American I still felt completely shocked and outraged over what happened, it felt like it had happened right here. I don't think I've ever seen anything so sad when I saw the footage of people falling and jumping out of windows

I'm finding it hard to percieve the fact that you could hate so much that you would go and do something like that. I am sorry for your loss

THEIR OKAY!!!
my dad's office is across the street from the pentagon and my brother's job is about 3 blocks up.
about 800 people were murdered in the pentagon with about 250 from the plane itself.
my dad has now survived/witness 3 terroist attacks in his lifetime. he hopes never to see such destruction ever again. they were sent home after the crash which was about 1000 am. they could not get home because of road blocks and the cell phones were useless. they came from about 5pm.
thank you for all of your concerns.

Yeah well I had to take my anger out some where. I hardly ever get mad but I'm mad now. I don't mean to cause any undesired effects on SYM so I will go swing at my punching bag now to relieve some rage.

I'm glad to hear they're okay.
According to official reports on TV, there were fewer than 100 people in the airplane.
I gotta go get gas in my car now. One station in town has already jumped up 10 cents per gallon, but another one hasn't gone up at all yet.

It was just said on the news then that over 300 fire fighters and more than 78 police are missing

As I said before, it just seems so senseless to me. Especially when I see people dancing in the streets happy at the thousands of lives that have been lost in the last 24hrs, it's sickening.

arafat is going to have a hard time getting any sympathy for the palastinian people now that the refugees in lebanon are celebrating. arafat was just as shocked as the rest of the world and doesn't condone the terrorists attack.
his people has just shot themselves in the foot.
i'm worried.
people are going to lash out. alot of muslims around the world are going to be persecuted just for being muslims.

I agree with many of you, and as you read in my prior posts, this should end in peace, or at least not killing off thousands more people.
I have a terrible feeling that we will be finding out about "reperations" paid out to the arab community in the next several days. Please us whatever influence you have in your schools, jobs, public events whatever, to get people to realize that attacking arabian citizens is not the answer. We dont even know who commited these acts yet. It could quite possibly have been done by an internal organization that is opposed to the US govt.
My greatest fear is that this could be dragged into an all out war. Ever since Bush condemned any nation harbouring these terrorists to destruction in his address, all hope for a peaceful resolution is gone. Please do whatever you can to limit it. The dead are gone. Give the living a chance.
( I don't mean to be callous, I just found out my Dad was going to be flying on one of those hijacked plans but was transferred). My deepest sympathies to anyone fearing the fate of their loved ones. We have all lost something, but remeber that others have lost more. Got donate blood and stop the violence.

First, I'd like to send out my best wishes to anyone who has lost family and friends in this tragedy.
Second, this is really scary when you think about it. Today's attacks were bad enough, but what about the next few days? Will there be more? I don't think the US itself could be hit anymore seeing as how they've closed their borders basically, but what about worldwide? And what about an internal strike? Think about it.
Anyways, at least the Republicans are demonstrating the one thing I like about them, they are quick to action when something needs to be done, though I suppose in this serious of a situation any Democrat would have done the same thing. Still, Bush's speech earlier was excellent, and he said exactly what he needed to. I am truly impressed.

I just now heard on the radio over 300 fire fighters and over 30 police are missing and presumed to be burried under what used to be the WTC.

I'm beginning to wonder if the shock of all this will ever wear off.
This morning, when watching the footage of what had happened, it didn't seem real. Then I saw Tower 1 fall live on TV and it became real, but now...everything else..."normal" life doesn't seem real anymore.

Just out of curiosity, I checked through my copy of Nostradamus (it was a phase I went through back in college - I'm better now

), and I didn't see this quatrain. Seems likely that it is a hoax along the same lines as the "Village Idiot" quatrain that circulated the net after George W was elected. Just thought you would like to know.

I just got word that one of my cousins who works in Manhattan is ok. Unfortunately two family friends aren’t. One was working on the upper floors of the first tower and hasn’t been heard from (we’re assuming the worse). The other managed to escape but lost his home; an apartment building a few blocks away.
There can be no peaceful resolution to this unmitigated slaughter of thousands of innocents. These cowards and all those that support them must be dealt with in lethal fashion. The United States must send an incontrovertible message that this manner of attack will only result in utter annihilation for those responsible.
I’ve been talking with some relatives in the military and if it comes to war I’m enlisting. This is the Pearl Harbor of my generation. We will not let this atrocity go unanswered and slip quietly into the night. The line has been drawn in the sand and the time for justice is upon us. May God have mercy on the terrorists responsible because no one else on this earth will.

I know what you mean - I almost also started crying, just out of helplessness, I've never done that before.
