Well, now, this is a proper subject for discussion!
A few of the favorites I have come across in my long years:
- I am very, very fond of various beers from the Paulaner brewery in Germany. I believe they have one of the best Hefeweizen beers in the world, and I also very much like their Salvator. The former is a good summer beer, the latter a good winter beer.
- Spaten has a wonderful Oktoberfest.
- I agree with some others here about the Belgian, esp Trappist ales. Chimay is my favorite - the red label one, followed by the blue label. The white label is good, but not like the other two, which are great.
- I really love the Ettaler Curator Doppelbock.
Those top the list - check them out!

Well, I don't drink much, but when I need a six-pack from the store, I usually grab Negra Modelo. Otherwise, I try to head to bars and experiment with the micro-brews available. Some circumstances can often make up for some deficeincies in taste, such as being a local brew, being on tap, and the company its drunk in. I once had the opportunity to drink a Kiltlifter with a couple of Dark Flames....
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.

I'm with you on this Tricky, you've written what I was thinking. This isnt a medicine for children with bad taste, why are you putting cherry flavor in it?
fruit beer = good idea, hard to get right
artificial flavor = very bad idea
some fruits don't come across very well. Cherry can be good, though. Bells Cherry stout is insanely good as Michigan is one of the best cherry growing regions with its great lake climate.
apricot beers turn out pretty good as well. Rasberry works too. I've had some of the lambic fruit beers and like those very much too.

There are a host of excellent microbrews here in the States. Far from the blandness of the mass-produced beverage they label beer here, they are worthy of the name as many adhere to European brewing standards, which quite frankly define beer IMO. Anything that does not meet those standards is not beer in my estimation. The only example of a mass-produced American beer I feel meets the minimum criteria of the craft is the Samuel Adams line of beers. The brewing company does a competent job in my estimation.
I would have to say that the absolute worst beer I have ever tasted has to be Budweiser. Oy vay...eet is terrible.
I quite enjoyed Stuttgarter Hofbrau many years ago. Good stuff. Served at room temperature...as a beer should be.
EDIT: I would be remiss if I did not offer a nod to San Miguel...I recall that stuff from my days living in the Philippines. I would drink it now.

Supacat, yeah I tend to agree. Kriek is a lambic fruit beer. Cherry. Frambozen (Rasberry) is another and I believe peach is common too (peche?). Some of the best beers in the world and the best attempts at fruit beer.
Budweiser has a blueberry beer right now in the states 'wild blue' and I commend them for being adventurous. I believe it is actual fruit (not just flavor?) at least they fooled me! Also it is 8% alcohol and only a dollar more (than) for a 6 pack than budweiser. Above 4% alcohol is pretty adventurous territory for a mass american beer not to mention the fruit! Of course currently they are bought out by the belgian makers of Leffe and Stella Artois.
As I said Bells has a good cherry stout. Spanish peaks has a good rasberry (or was it blueberry). And I know of some other good fruit beers. Such as pyramid apricot ale...

I was wondering when you would show up.
I just knew you would include San Miguel. If I do get to the States and meet up with you, I'd bring a couple of BOTTLES. Next to draught, beer for me tastes better from the bottle than from the can.

Going to stick to north American beers here, as it's been awhile since I've had English beer (had a few while growing up there.... )
Some styles of beer are meant to be drunk at around 55 F which is 'cellar temperatures'. At that temperature more of the flavor 'wakes up'. My 'cellar' is just a regular basement so I routinely drink beer at 65 F. I like it. I can taste more of the roasted and caremelized grains and I can taste the esters which are fruity notes that occur in ales. The typical ice cold beer is meant to be a thirst quencher and is brewed to be smooth rather than vibrant. I also like that style but it is not my preference.

For me Redhorse (from the Philippines) is the best beer.. it has a klck!!! i mean you will drink couple of bottles thinking that you still on your guard but once you stand up you will feel the kick of the beer :laugh: TRy it man!!!

It maybe just me, but I think most beer lovers go for the taste of the beer rather than for the "kick" it gives.
Then again, if that's what makes it best for you, who am I to debunk your personal opinion?

Magic Hat jinx beer is a pretty good amber with some peat smoked malt giving it a smoky flavor...
Their number 9 not quite a pale ale is pretty drinkable but is kind of a hybrid of american pisswater flavorless beer and a pale ale...with a not so annoying fruit flavor to boot.
Anyway I would recommend magic hat to those in the states (or visiting) I give it marks in between samuel adams (a little better execution for mh) and Anchor Steam (mh a little to gimmicky in comparison).
