Why were they killed?? I'm willing to bet some where killed because of their religion.

No where did I say religious wars. I say because of their religion.

Sorry Loner, no women aloud. This might get ugly.

Alright boys, she's gone. Where are the poker cards. :D :D

Connecting the question to relegions I would say that a lot of relegions are luddites and hypocrites. They build websites advertising God and then they say that the internet should not be used to porno etc. I hate people like that, it's like Sleep said, we are not forced to do anything. It is our freewill and after all God did give us freewill...

The 20th Century has been called the bloodiest century in human history, and for good reason. No one can ever be sure of the exact figures, but historians have estimated 40 million people died because of the Stalinist purges, 60 million under Mao Tse Tung's rise and consolidation of power in China, and 2 million under Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. That's over 100 million, folks, and these are just three examples.

@Weasel: I think political, not religious, reasons were responsible for a majority of these deaths.

Hi Brink :D How are things with you?

Umm, I guess I should contribute to the topic. All right, well I'll say this: I used to think the internet was evil. Not because of the porn etc. but because I firmly believed it would destroy person-to-person human relations. Now I think there needs to be a balance.

Cigar? No okay.

Hey Kramor, no cigars for you. Loner said the last you smoked one, you tasted like an ashtray. :D :D

I agree the majority most likely were.

Say 10% were killed for their religion out of 60 million. That means 6 million died just because of religion.

What about all the lambs and bulls that were killed in the name of God? You ever consider them?

@M&M: I think *every* century in human history has been bloody. You are correct, that is a tremendous loss of life... but your statement was that less people have been killed in religious conflict. Have you gone off to tabulate those numbers for the last 4 thousand years, or was that statement opinion? You also neglected to answer why we should not consider loss of life due to religion significant, no matter what the numbers.

Perhaps, since you can only be saved by accepting the lord, a little inquisition does more good than harm?
