well ther is this one question, a train leaves the station going north at 35 mph, 120 miles away, a train leaves going south on the same track running 40 mph, now what I need to know is.......WHO IS RUNNING THIS RAILROAD COPMPANY!!??!?!

yeah, still that is the problem with these types of questions, if math is supossed to be the basis of everything, why don't the questions make any kind of sense?

Ummm, because they don't expect you to question the question, they just expect you to do the calculations and be done with it. Thinking is not encouraged
