So basically Fallout is not an RPG, it is a guessing game, and it sucks because it has too much detail and dialogue. And Heroes of Might and Magic is an RPG series. This is why I come to Gamebanshee, I get to learn so much about RPGs from other people.

This one nearly knocked me unconscious, even more so when i've seen it in user RPG reviews.
Someone pinch me, as i have to be dreaming.

HoMM.. an RPG..
I guess so is Rollercoaster Tycoon and Chess Titans (but only windows 7 edition. Vista Chess Titans is a first person shooter)

I feel I aught to reply to you doady as you appear to be addressing games I've mentioned, but I have no idea what you're saying.
So basically Fallout is not an RPG
Where did this outburst come from?
If you're being sarcastic, then no-one has claimed that so why do you need to be sarcastic about something no-one's said?
If this is actually your opinion, may we permitted some facts to work with?
it is a guessing game
??????? totally lost me ?????????
and it sucks because it has too much detail and dialogue
Yes dude, see my posts about it in the fallout forum. It's one of those games which gets totallt self obsessed with 'reality' by over-detailing 'reality' into every action and movement, such as 2 movement points for a dagger swing but 3 movement points for a gun-shot - BUT COMPLETELY IGNORES THE FACT THAT YOU CAN JUST KICK RATS AWAY OR TREAD ON THEM AND ONE RAT WILL NOT EVER INFLICT DEATH DAMAGE NO MATTER HOW VICIOUS.
And Heroes of Might and Magic is an RPG series
The reason it only lasted 10 minutes was because I found that it wasn't. At least not in my expectation and what was there I didn't enjoy or get the hang of.
This is why I come to Gamebanshee, I get to learn so much about RPGs from other people.
That's nice dear, cos we're certainly learning sweet FA from you.

In post 30 I was just explaining why it is possible for someone to dislike Fallout, not supporting the contention it was one of the worst RPGs, which I did make clear in the same post.
As should be apparent I did not play the game for long, and it seemed to me that to progress the main quest, you had to do a lot of guessing as there didn't seem to be any clues how to proceed after finding out Vault 15 was a red herring. You even had to do a blind search to even find a way into vault 15.

It would be easier to list decent RPG (would be a very short list).
Anyway, not mentioning anything from the bygone DOS era, here are the RPGs that take the cake for being the Worst RPG I had a misfortune to waste my hard earned money on:
1. ToEE
2. Fallout2
3. NWN2
4. Alpha Protocol (allegedly aRPG)
5. Dungeon Siege I-II and most probably III (allegedly aRPG)
I could also add the DA series but even DA2 is better than NWN2.

I know what for me have to be a GOOD RpG: Baldur's Gate2, Fallout 1 and 2 and Torment..
I've played and liked a lot of games but for me these are RpG..Fallout3 or Oblivion gave me hours of fun but are bad RpG for example..
Basically for me Rpg is a roll of dice, probability and statistics..
What do i really want from an RpG?
That my characters start weak and slowly grows in strenght and skills..
A lot of roles to play and classes to choose and make grow (BG2)..
A lot of micromanage with statistics and inventory (FO)..
A bit of guess, at least a challenge, you should guess what to do from your informations not from a flashing arrows on your map..
Strategy in combat (BG2 is the king)..that's the most important, everything you do in the game is aimed to gain experience to advance your level and become stronger, in combat is where you get satisfaction from that..THE PAUSE FOR THE GAME..
A lot of places to explore things to do and freedom to wander (FO)..
A good story that invites you to go ahead to know what you'll have to face (here i have to mention Torment, that have a special place for me as you see)..
THE BIRD EYE VIEW!! please..
Every game that lack in this for me is a bad Rpg.
