Just noticed a minor error to your sheet. All your weapons are large sized thanks to your powerful build. So while they are wielded the same, the need to be indicated that they are large by their size category and by their weight, which is approximately double for each.
You are totally right! I just updated the sheet to reflect the size and weight change. While I was reading though, I noticed the price for the large version of the weapons is also different according to Weapon Qualities. This means I should double the price too right?

How about the armor? The size, price and weight should be double?

No, your armor should be fine.

Your weapons are large because of an ability you have called powerful build, not because you are large yourself. You are still technically medium, so your armor is fine.

And only double the base price.

Masterwork and magic don't increase in price for this. So if something costs 10 gold, and 310 for masterwork. If it's large, it'll only cost 20 gold and 320 gold for masterwork.

As jeronis examines for wine of value he calls over his shoulder,"a misdirection could prove appropriate....the warlock intended to oppose sundown and thus sundown may be uncertain if the deceased warlock is at large...in any case I am just slightly a little bit hate sundown and I'd like to smash his wine."

Nordak approaches Jeronis,

So, is the cloak valuable and useful or not? What is with its glow? It might be magical.

He then addresses everyone,

Let's decide what do we do and move along with the plan. I am for visiting a Skia shrine and inform them of what we found out. Then we should check the warlock's cottage for more clues. Anyone else has better ideas? Jeronis? Shile? Allexa?

"I agree, nordak on all accounts...I am already deeply embedded in these mysteries...I don't feel sundown would be oblivious to my betrayal, but as long as we use our heads I think we gotta stick together...another point is that sundown must have enemies both virtuous and rivals, not to mention friends of skia and while I suspect you would be likeminded and I am open also to discerning the circumstance of your memory loss allexa, hey where is sinead? I fear if sundown should retrieve a bottle of wine to sample". With that jerkins smiles nervously.

So what is going on? Only me and Claudius around here left? At least let us know if you abandon the game.

Well if its over it was good while it lasted, bro. I love your character took a look at the dragon shaman and I think your role play is good I like how your character thinks out problems and the expression of feelings. MistSonata practically struck me as a novelist in reading her depiction of this character so very different from in the Karnakid campaign which was also well wrought. I missed Annette but like her very much I like how she always said success! in the other campaign on rolls and I was impressed by how dark her character was. Siberys man awesome campaign if you are a little bit gruff with questions you have the best imagination and handle yourself with us very well, kudos. And kozeph got good vibes from Shile, like the character very much so. Reminded me of Luna and very clever.

*Sigh*

I guess it is dead, dunno why but oh well.

The sad thing is, and I mean REALLY sad is that this was the self-titled "Tutorial" level for the new relatively inexperienced players players involved in the game, as well as to get people involved in a feel for how I run my game, and you guys were 95% finished with it.

Literally, you found midnight owl, Sundown is dead because he was a puppet and nothing more to the Warlock whom you killed, and all that was left was to rummage through his belongings to find the remote that shuts off the power to the gravity field.

Maybe I went about this with too much complexity, maybe not, I dunno.

But you guys didn't even get the chance to START the game, the next questline was gonna be a REALLY different plot.

I'm going to give some individual critique, and I do not in any way mean this to be offensive but rather, this is meant to be useful for you for the next time you build a character for a PNP game.

@Claudius- I gotta be honest dude, your character was the most frustrating to deal with. Your backstory alone delved WAY too much into the depths of my world. You can have virtually any backstory you want, but you need to keep them generic, and when you're low level, you need to keep them very basic too.

This is why I kept hinting that you'll probably just start as a fencer, not a high end mafia businessman. Being level 2 or 3 is very VERY low renown. You've got some reputation as somewhat reliable adventurers, but you're not the heavily armored, highly respected group.

Furthermore, I set up a fantasy world with titans and dragons and elements of magic, and you set up a crime syndicate slums runner. It's one thing to have a character make little sense for a game, but work him in, your character made pretty much NO sense for my game. It did not have a place.

Finally, and if you only take one thing away from my criticism let it be this one. Please CLEARLY think out what you wanna say and type to the DM. Half of the time I spent working on your character was purely deciphering what it is you said. A lot of DM's from a place like TheTangledWeb wouldn't even put up with that and just kick you out.

@MistSonata- I like that your character had personal issues and was eventually planning on trying to get involved with another character but you need to learn the difference between being chaotic-neutral and looking out for your own best interests and being a chode.

I said from the beginning that players needed to get along with the party. I'm not going to fault you for the memory loss thing, that was on me and I prolly shoulda thought that through a little more, but prior to that your character was kind of an ass to the party and this wasn't really that great for the game.

I know I said it's okay if you don't like a certain person so long as you can function as a party but while that's okay for maybe one person of the party, it doesn't work for not liking everyone.

@Malinzaro- Your character itself was mostly fine but I noticed more than a few times you completely glossed over someone else who was talking to you and just went on about your own business.

Unlike tabletop where you're sitting around and people talk and you can just take it in for a second, you need to read -everything- that's said in a play-by-post.

This is one of the fundamentally most difficult portions of a play by post. Most people have the mindset that "well, posts happen once or twice a day so I can do this casually." No, to the contrary, play by post games are FAR far harder to manage and keep organized than face to face games. And no, that's not your fault, you probably may not have realized that so it's no big deal, just remember you need to devote a lot of time to the game for your character to work with it. At least an hour a day usually.

@Treblin-

Your character was, as politely as I can put it, needlessly complicated. The Book of Exhalted Deeds is among one of the three or four worst balanced, written, and executed books of all 3.5 D&D, and I was really hesitant at first in allowing it to begin with.

More than that, making a monk, a character that already doesn't use a lot of equipment, and using a rule that forsakes equipment for static bonuses is called Min-maxing.

For a heavy combat game, that would have been great. This was a 50/50 game for roleplaying and combat. I had mysteries and investigations and puzzles and traps for your characters to deal with. Your character, in that regard, would have been pretty much without purpose. You can heal and fight, that's not really a character, that's a footsoldier.

@Kozeph-

Like Cladius, I had a VERY difficult time reading what your character said and did in the game. Your character was very weird, abundantly so. Weird and quirky and odd can be good things for games but this was so weird it was random and incoherent, in that your character didn't actually make any sense as a possible, plausible functioning being. She was an adult, yet childish; intelligent yet incoherent, sensible yet insane.

In essence, it was a walking oxymoron and half the time I couldn't make heads or tails of what you wanted to do or why.

The concept alone was great, and I did like the oddities about her, but they were TOO odd and TOO random. Definitely tone it down a bit.

Also...I had major problems with your characters wisdom score and an action you did in the game. Your character is wise enough to know that it would be very unsafe to go out alone into the middle of the streets and alleyways nearly at midnight in -the- single most dangerous part of the entire city, and yet you as a player decided to make your character just random enough to do so.

Anyway, I realize this was all kinda harsh, and I myself probably have a few faults I need to work on, but I really mean this in the best of terms, to help you as roleplayers and help you enjoy the game a little more.

Thank you for your feedback Siberys in regard to my character! I recognize you have a lot of experience as a player/DM and such your opinion is very valuable to me. I did some mistakes in the beginning and I hope that later I managed to better fill the gaps. I still have much to learn, but otherwise I believe I was one of the most frequent and reliable posters around.

I believe me/Claudius are still here and willing to continue the story. I speak for myself in the first place and I sincerely do hope this will go on even though we have difficulties in posting at this moment. I don't know about Ellie, Treblin, kozeph or Annette but hopefully they can state their interest and we can continue this.

Regarding the game: you are saying that the deceased warlock had a remote in his belongings (you mean on his person or in his cottage - i presume the former is true)? I am asking this because kozeph already searched his dead body and could only found a mithral shirt (Ellie took it), a few pearls and the cloak I insisted in being appraised. Unless I am missing something we should have been able to find the remote.

In the end I can only hope you decide to continue the story with what players decide to stay and bring others in (seeing that there are always players here posting their interest). I feel this is the normal course of events, in life as in roleplaying some die, some others are born, but regardless the river goes on flowing. The fact that some decided to duke it down should not stop the story to flow.

Cheers and fingers crossed for a wise decision!

Sorry, I may have misspoke a little. Sundown has the device, not the Warlock.

To be honest siberys I found you a very negative person. Brilliant campaign but every comment from siberys to claudius my feelings get hurt. My character was not a mafia businessman. Read his backstory. He was a spotter for smuggled goods and a guard in caravans. You established me as a fence even though I stated several times that I was more interested in the outdoors. I think he could accomplish both spotting and guarding as a level 3 character. So you're saying there wouldn't be smuggled goods in a world with titans and dragons and magic? huh? But thank you for letting me know how I can make your experience better.

I'm sorry I was hard to understand. On my end I have a handicap, schizophrenia, but in the future I will try to make my responses simpler, shorter and so forth.

I also wonder why you could not state your concerns earlier. I can't fault you too much for negativity I guess as expressing displeasure is not that easy. I think compliment sandwiches is actually a smart way. And then just sticking to the problem YOU had rather than saying its my problem. For example I said you were negative which is wrong, but then I said my feelings were hurt which is correct.

I appreciate you putting up with me as long as you did because I did enjoy your campaigns such as it was. Thanks.

So you're saying there wouldn't be smuggled goods in a world with titans and dragons and magic?
No, it's not a matter of the content of the world, it's a matter of the LACK of content.

This world is post-apocalyptic, society is barely alive, government is just now making it's first appearances, laws are flimsy and unenforced, this is a world where no smuggling exists because there is nothing to smuggle in the first place.

Smuggling implies it's illegal. No laws have been made to make any object or substance illegal.

I had to add quite a bit to the game just to make smuggling part of it when really, the ONLY thing in the world that is an illegal "Object" in some peoples eyes, is slaves.
On my end I have a handicap, schizophrenia
This explains a LOT to me, as I do know full well the effects and behaviors of schizophrenia.

I realize it may have been a relatively private issue that you didn't exactly wanna bring up, but if you had sent me a PM with this information at the first sign you and I had a few problems, I promise you this would have been a totally different conversation.

I realize I've been fairly negative but try and look at it from my point of view. I knew English is your first language, and I knew you were old enough to type out coherent thoughts (and I have seen them before), so when I see a statement that is just utterly blindsidingly confusing, my first thought isn't "Ok, maybe I should PM him to see what's going on and try to get a better idea of what he's doing." My first thought is "What the hell did he just say? Is he drunk?"

So I do apologize, but I was unaware of this and as said, it would have made the difference without question.

I was diagnosed with Asperger's myself, so when it comes to socializing with others, I am -well- aware of the difficulties it presents with a neurological disorder like this or shizoid or schizophrenia or any form of PDD. Next time we game together, if we do, I'll be more than happy to help work with you a little closer.

Siberys,

I appreciate your sensitivity. When I am more careful I do a better job, but remember its all relative and I'm not always at the top of my game in terms of coherency. Its quite an experience to try to make your character interesting, expressive, clever, and all those things and I somehow see or rather have to agree that I can improve.

I was a little grumpy this morning and I appreciate your not escalating any static and addressing my difficulties.

As far as the smuggling thing I now understand that part about kind of a wild west city now. If we continue I will think about changing smuggling to something else rogueish and outdoorsish, perhaps something to do with defending against bandits. I think that would really make sense in such a world.

I am of like mind with Malinzaro in that I hope we can continue with other players. I am not that sensitive about criticism I was just under stress because my mom had to see the eye doctor about an eye problem which turned out ok for now so I am destressing. But I don't have a major problem, and I think on my end at least can work with our relationship so long as I manage to explain myself when there is something like my illness causing a problem you should be aware of. Otherwise I guess I just felt often a little stupid but thats mainly because I am learning and its always frustrating, I remember the same learning curve recently learning more about sketching and painting.

So I am cool with you and I hope to participate in a future campaign if not yours then someone else if I can manage to get to the level of play, up to snuff.

Oh and I don't drink at all. Used to quite a bad habit but I haven't drank since december last year.

Play by post is not for everyone as I have learned painfuly over the past couple of months playing in over two dozen campaigns of which nearly all have died due to people randomly disappearing. I feel for you Siberys, as a DM I know what goes into making the the campaign both interesting for the players and the DM and it's not always easy.

I however never wanted to stop playing the game, albeit life has thrown me a few curve balls over the past couple of weeks I'm trying to keep up the best I can.

As far as your critique, I can't agree more about him being over complicated for a play by post campaign. He however was meant to be exactly what you called him, a footsoldier with some healing ability. As far as min-maxing, we discussed that at length before you agreed to the character build and I still maintain the position that the Vow of Poverty was more for roleplaying purposes, but certainly wouldn't hurt in a fight.

However, that being said, I found the character not to my liking for this type of campaign for quite the same reasons as you mentioned.

Also, as far as the campaign itself, it was going excellently and I personally enjoyed the story and the characters in it.

In closing, I don't see the need to close the game, games ebb and flow and to me it sounds much more like we just need to work out a few issues between all of us to get back on the same page to continue.

I would request though that I could roll a new character, let me know.

Fair enough, I have a proposition for everyone then.

We can continue the game if you guys like, and it seems most people are in favor of this, and we'll do it one of two ways.

1- We go on with the current plotline I have for the game, and pick up right where we left off (though, just after the "tutorial" adventure I gave now that I've spoiled quite a bit). While it was mostly just an introductory adventure, it does have relevance to the entire story, so we can keep it BUT you must keep all the same characters.

OR

2- We use the same world and same mythology but a different plot. It'll still be heavy roleplaying and combat (an even mix), but entirely unrelated to Sundown, the Warlock, Midnight Owl, or anything that I've created. The Twilight Quarter will no longer exist and the current adventure will be null. On the flipside, this will allow several players who are unsatisfied with their current characters to make new ones. If we go with this one though, everyone MUST make new characters, not just some of you.

The reason I have it as such is for continuity purposes and to allow you the choice of continuing the game as is or starting fresh.

It's all up to you.

Siberys all, I am welcoming to either continuing or starting afresh. I favor a fresh start a little more for my own interests so that I can make my character fit the lore of the world more.

Question for Siberys:

IF we change characters...

Is an outdoorsy character ok? I mean is the campaign urban? I imagine Rhodes has to have some outlying network to supply food and manufacturing raw materials? Just let me know if I should make my character urban, I could make an urban tracker or thug or something.

To be honest I would love to keep Nordak and continue with the plot you already have in mind, but if the majority wants otherwise I will retire him and start anew. My first option is to continue though.

I can go either way, but favor a fresh start.
I created a character just in case, human bard 2/rogue 1 acrobatic character utilizing skill tricks (complete scoundrel) will continue to go rogue until prestige classing.

@Claudius-

Usually, any character works for me. The smuggling one just didn't hardly make any sense for the game, but virtually any other character does.
