New Zealanders are famous in Australia that way.

NZ learnt all their sheep 'tricks' by imitating the Australians, they have it down to fine art, been passed down through the generations.

Explains a few things really.

"defense", probably an unintended pun

For all those who don't know or are in denial, Australia was used by the British Empire as a dumping ground for unwanted crims.

About half the colonist population (possibly distorted figure) in the 1800's were criminals left to reek havock on the land.

Even after 200 years evidence of their heritage is cropping up- The stealing of the 2003 rugby world cup, need I say more.

Its even possible that Ode is writing from a cell. That still needs confirming
