In my case, it wasn't "something old" I was looking for, but anything in third-person to replace NWN, which I found boring and repetitive.

After you play through IWD once or twice, it's not very exciting either, and that's with the expansions.

I agree about NWN. I only probably played about ten hours worth and haven't touched it since. To each his/her own I suppose.

I was reading that gaming companies like to release their games around the summer time or christmas so that school doesn't conflict with the selling of their games. I guess IWD2 won't have that luxury. Still I betcha it sells a ton regardless. I'm real anxious for it...I've lost all interest in viedo games...I watched a friend play WCIII and it looked kinda boring to me. I like the inifiti engine games, though I'm reading that it's an aging engine and won't get much more use in the future.

it would be cool to see a lord of the rings or dragonlance computer game in the baldurs gate style though.

Even if NWN won't offer much fun for singlegame players it will surely fulfill its purpose offering a unique multiplayer experience. I have to admit that the single campaing is not that bad, i found it quite amuzing after letting the thought that i'm not playing Baldur's Gate and continued the plot a little. :)

I would still try out IWD2 even if NWN was much better, but now i have one more reason to look forward to it.

Of the big RPGs scheduled for release this year, I, too, was most eagerly anticipating IWD2. Yet, if it had come out when originally promised, I wouldn't have bought MW and NWN when I did. So my summer's been filled with sheer gaming goodness and, now, autumn will be too.

Agreement. I've seen some IWD fanatics who insist that simply getting different weapons out of treasure constitutes reason enough to play it through four or five times, but I think that's an extreme position. :D Despite differences in dialog that result from having an evil or good character in charge, the play-through is identical (unlike, say Arcanum). IWD is pretty much a dungeon crawl, divorced from the character aspects that made BG2 and PS:T so compelling. However, that doesn't make it a poor game. It still has a lot of playtime involved, and a great many challenges. :)

The US release for the game will be at late August and the Europian at middle September, for now.

It seems like it  . I can't seem to recall any game in the past year that was released the same date for both US and Europe. If we are lucky the games comes to Europe after a week but sometimes it takes a whole month.

The new release seems to be 6th of september, so if all goes as planned (which it probably won´t) we should be wiggling in our chairs by next week... :)

Amazon.co.uk still has the release date on the 13th of sept  . Did you preordered it from somewhere else? Or you are just waiting to pick it up from the local stores there?

Waiting and Wating...

When IWD 2 will come out? There´s a certain date?
It will use the D&D 3E rules?

Thanks.

No offense, but why don't you read some of the earlier posts on this page? Goodness, we've covered all the 3E stuff for months, and the dates for weeks. :)

No offence but why you do not give the answer? If I had time to read all post I I would not need to post nothing, that expensive craze.

In the USA ID2 is out NOW for my knowledge and here in Finland the game will come to stores on 26th of this month.

ID2 uses 3e rules.I think that Fable didn´t answer your question cos´ we indeed have been talking about this game a LOT and for a LONG time.Explaining all those things would make a book!It really ain´t that much trouble to find info from this forum: Try "Search" and type in key words to look for information about the thing you wanna know.Firstly you can try my "Information Summary" thread. It ain´t much but it´s a start. You should also look at a website called Icebound (easiest to acces from Black Isle´s official ID2 site) for easy acces to information.Note that you might have some problems in accessing the site sometimes. If you can´t acces the site then try again another day.Works for me.

Thanks, I am so anxious because I prefer much more the rules of the third edition and I live here in Brazil, the salesmen are knowing the same as me, then I have that to calculate when the game leaves there to arrive here. :(
And guess what, the games cost 4 times more of the one you have in U.S.A.
Actually, it is as you paid $ 110,00 for IWD 2.

@Nietzsche

I merged your thread with this one. I appreciate you wanting to introduce yourself and get some information but not half way down the page of this forum was a thread entitled "IWD2 - release date".

Don't be lazy - people will dislike you for it. Besides its so much fun reading other peoples' posts. :)
