Ah, but with a futuristic laser cannon you could aquire a wide-screen TV pretty easily. How many TV salesmen are going to argue with a guy who has a large laser cannon/robot of mass destruction?

The BG2/SoA category is spam-free. If you folks want to spam, you know where to go to do so: SYM (Speak Your Mind). If it continues here, I'll be forced to close this thread.

Kelsey
Hmm...I stumbled across this thread and thought I'd give my opinion.
I voted for Kelsey, though I still like Anomen.
I like nice, slightly nerdy guys whom I can corrupt so there was really no competition between that and an arrogant hardbody or a depressed babbler. (Though I do agree with Aqua on liking Anomen's portrait the best).
I've run through Anomen several times, Soulafein (his dialogue never had sound which bothered me for some reason...)
once and am now a bit through Kelsey. Granted, he may be my favorite because he's the one I'm currently going through.
Now off to find the Kelsey thread to post my thoughts and the questions I have.

Have a great day all

Whenever I created a female pc, Anomen started the romance alright, but then, somewhere between chapters 2 and 3, it was the last time I heard from him.
And by the start of ToB, after the first fight in Saradush, when all of a sudden he was saying something about "body" and "tonight", "to please my lady", or something like that, I had completely forgotten that there was a romance in the game. And I didn't like his reaction when we all fell into the Hell.
IMHO, Valygar would had been the best female romance.

The Valygar romance mod is still under development. Expect to hear more about it soon.

It's good to hear. And now that I'm trying Sola I think the two of them bear some similarities, on different grounds though.
I've tried the Kelsey mod a bit (then I was forced to unistall it for I believe it caused some scripting conflicts with Tashia mod). Kelsey is too sweet; I think he is born for being with Immy, not with the pc character.
Sola is surely more complicated and more interesting for that matter. I don't know what the forthcoming romance mods would they look like, but up to now Sola is the most mature romance for a female pc character. He might be the perfect guy.

I won't pass much comment on Anomen here, except to say that he is probably quite misunderstood and given his background it is hardly surprising his character is what it is.
Even so, he's still very unwise! When the party falls in Hell the pc character, I suspect, needs some kind of reassurance; not Anomen thinking how *he* will get out of there!!

I'm sorry about being dead for a while back there. Some stuff has been occuring at home/office, but I have my computer back online now.

Somebody finally agrees with me on the portrait! Woo hoo!

His reaction is normal. If I had just fallen into Hell after just killing the guy who we've been chasing around in circles since forever, then I'd be pretty ticked off, too.
But, they really *COULD* have improved his common dialogs if you were in a romance, no doubt in that. It agitates me when he gives you this sweet-talk romance, then snaps at you with "What is it now?!"
But Chanak has said it before and I agree -- something about being called "comrade" makes enough for reassurance in combat.

Actually, Kelsey and Tashia are extremely inter-compatible. There should be absolutely no conflicts. What problem were you having?

Heheh. Well, that depends on the PC, I guess, but clearly there are women whom would be better suited for Anomen or Solaufein than for Kelsey. I do agree that he and Imoen are a good match, that's why they have a romance in the upcoming TOB content module.

Tashia's portrait displayed a dialogue line instead of her name and her hps; when asked, she "said" lines from Kelsey's mod. Generally there had been a damn messing up mainly with their dialogues. And there had been a couple of times where Kelsey appeared to talk but his lines were invisible and after that his name wasn't displayed either.

Allow me to disagree with you on that. Considering the *special* relation he and the pc character have had, his reaction is *not* normal: For goodness sake, by that stage of the game he's supposed to be pc's lover, not someone whom she's just flirting with. But Sola's reaction... now, *this* is normal. But then, I suppose it's has to do with what kind of person one is.
It agitates me when he gives you this sweet-talk romance, then snaps at you with "What is it now?!"
I second. It gives in my nerves, too, to hear him saying that.

I would smash his face if he wasn't a decent fighter and a very good cleric, summoning always a Skeleton Warrior.

Fortunately, that should be very fixable by the NPC's respective "talk fixers."
Here's what you do:
Click to force-talk to Tashia, and tell her she "looks strange." She'll be fixed.
Then, click on Kelsey and press K. (This will probably only work using Kelsey 1.0.4)
Should fix up both of them.

@JCompton
thanks for the info!
I had a rather amusing dialogue at the beginning of the game crop up. I'm not sure which mod is the culprit and it has not influenced game play so I am not overly worried. But....when Irenicus spoke to my char. he came out with Neeber's line....asking me if I was going to throw rocks at him, and then he spoke about wanting to go to the Underdark because "there's cool stuff down there."
Needless to say, given the irony.....I was ROFLMAO!
Guess I'm off topic too, spamming my own thread

But I found the incident pretty funny and I was not sure where else to post it. I am actually wondering if it might not be worth dedicating a thread to the discussion of the various mods that are out there.
Thoughts anyone....?

Off Topic --sorry!
@jcompton --
Nope! Though Tashia's problem could be fixed previously without Kelsey mod being installed, this time it didn't. That's why I unistalled and reinstalled the whole game, leaving poor Kelsey unistalled for now. But I'm going try his mod after finishing the Sola mod once. After all I've just finished SoA and we have an appointment with ugly Melissan
Anyway, thanks for the help!

And the coolest of all... Solaufein of course!!

Poor, poor Kelsey! And what, your Ladyship, did, if I may?

P.S. If unwise Anomen convinced you to found the Order of the Dark Flame, I can't imagine what dear Solaufein is capable of.

@Aubrey, lol!
Well I do like Sola for the reasons I mentioned upon opening this thread, so no arguments there.
Regarding the dialogue glitch, I didn't do anything at all, it hasn't affected the rest of the game.
I actually just added Sola to my party; since I have upgraded to Kelsey 1.0.4 I will be interested to see Kelsey's response to my infidelity.

The Neeber line is part of Karzak's Shorter Introduction Cutscenes mod, which is also part of Weimer's Ease Of Use. You must have installed it.

You'll need to have installed the optional Solaufein conflict component of 1.0.4, and the Solaufein romance dialogues have to proceed pretty far. Basically, Kelsey won't say anything until he feels Solaufein has made his romantic intentions plain (at least, in Kelsey's eyes.)

My dear,
Liking Solaufein is not a matter of masochism, but rather the opposite I would say. He's simply intellectual and noble. His lines at the Tree of Life? A marvel for the ears --well, rather for the eyes-- of the pc. It's a level which Anomen *can't* and will *never* reach. It's a matter of character.
Cheers
