I just started a new game and Yoshimo is my new favorite NPC. I've never used him before, but being as I like to escape the dungeon alone and I was a Sorceror this time I needed a little help so I grabbed him. And Haer'Dalis is second only to Yoshimo on the favorite list. He's an awesome backup mage and a blendor on the side.

You mean to tell me that I could solo the game with my Necromancer? Is it easy? I thought you had to have at least 1 NPC with you or you'd die all the time.

Well, you do die quite a bit when soloing, usually. I've done it up to Chapter 5 once with a fighter/cleric--not easy. Soloing is something I wouldn't recommend on the first time through.

@Astafas:
Oh, ok,
, my fault, didn't catch the quote!
(though I claim to be an expert!
)
Friends!
About soloing: exciting when you discover that it can be
done (without mods installed...), and surprisingly
easy, I mean, after the first chapters...
Soon the PC will be so high in level and so well
equipped that you'll basically be always capable of a great
defense. The rest follows.
BUT, to me is really boring. I didn't complete my solo game.
No interactions, total lack of a party strategy (unless you
play a summoner
).
While I have to say the duo-party I tried was very fun till
the end.

Need Help
I wasn't going to solo anyway (lol) - I just have to have Korgan and Viconia ... I need evil company.
On a totally unrelated note, I do need a little help with something. More advice than help. I went into this place called Den of Seven Vales or something in the Promenade just walking around and stuff. It's really cool here. But when I got to that Den place, I rested and stuff and then went upstairs to look around and I got ambushed by these invincible people. I know that I'm lawful evil and all, but it's not like I did anything wrong to them AND my party has a +3 reaction adjustment, so that should negate anything from low reputation ... which is now at 10.
I just walk in and this bat thing beside a mage go totally berserk and cast this spell that confuses everyone in my party but me. They made quick work of both Yoshimo and Jaheira and I fell shortly thereafter.
Advice?

You walked in and got ambushed? No dialog or anything beforehand, they just immediately went hostile and started attacking? Strange.. normally the dwarf fighter who leads this little group insults you first, and you can either slaughter him and his party to teach him not to mess with demigods in the future, or you can talk your way out of the fight and run away with your tail in between your legs. I'm fairly sure they will all attack you regardless if Korgan is in your party.. I guess he used to travel with them or something. Regardless.. the best advice I can give is to come back later once you've built up a stronger party and you have more levels under your belt and better equipment to your name. Do pre-buffing.. bless, haste, protection spells, the like.. and summon a few critters to serve as fodder before you charge in. Maybe throw in some fireballs, webs, stinking clouds, or cloudkills to incapacitate or at least soften them up first. And to justify this to yourself from a roleplaying sense, have Yoshimo scout them out in stealth mode so you know there's a threat there.. although they aren't automatically threats.. eh. If you're at a high enough level you can take them out without pre buffing/summoning.

As Ryo said, they shouldn't attack you unless you talk back when they provoke you. If you have Korgan in your party there will be a fight, though.
Speaking of Korgan, what are you still doing in the Promenade? Don't you want to add him and Vic to your party?

Yeah they did say something first. But the reason why I said ambushed was cuz it was sooo unexpected. And yes Yoshimo was automatically hiding in shadows already so I just let him do his thing - which wasn't good enough. I guess I will wait until later on to go back.
Umm I haven't left Waukeen's Promenade yet - promise not to laugh - cuz I'm kinda scared. I don't know what to expect after the appearently easiest part of the game was this challenging for me ... but I'll leave. After I get bored of exploring. 8^D

Picking up Korgan and Viconia will make life easier for you. Then go back to the Promenade. There is no real difference in challenge between the areas of Atkathla.

Okay. The hardest part for me would be stripping Jaheira (for her EQUIPMENT) and leaving her somewhere in the wilderness. I mean she has, after all, been complaining about city settings. Then I'll just give all her stuff to Viconia! lol
I'm tryna avoid waiting too long like you said so a romance doesn't start.

It's spreading like a plague!

Littiz,
You're wrong. There's some good also here (come on! look at me!)
Don't be disappointed, my friend. That's how society has always been.
Cheers

What are you talking about? Evil is super fun, especially when applied to this game. At least I think so ...

If you wish to hurt Jaheira, then you need to romance her.
Jaheira, such a fragile soul. The loss of Khalid was hard on her, but you are there. Her rock, a shoulder to cry on, someone who can drive away the fear and doubt. She loves you, murders friends for you, leaves the harpers, abandons the memory Khalid. She leaves behind everything for you, but that's all right, because she loves you and you love her in return and you will always be there. Then, as she declares her love, you abandon her. Leave her to rot in the cold void of her own creation.
Watching the realisation of what she has done hit her... such pleasure is a once in a lifetime experience.
True evil is an art form.

Actually, I doubt she would regret the actions taken. If being with you led to her continuing on with her life, getting over her grief and finding her role, along with a number of traitorous Harpers getting killed, she might actually consider it worth it. Despite you being such an evil bastard and all. She probably wasn't enjoying herself that much anyway.

You could always have her kill all the animals in the wilderness areas...

Art form or not, I don't think the alignment "True Evil" is in the game. Besides, I'm still Lawful (roleplay purposes bind me to this). Lawful Evil is my fav alignment. It means I have control over myself despite the fact that I scheme legally to place myself in a place of power, wealth, or something similar.
Keeping in mind my Nec is a lawful, that also means forming a romance with Jaheira would be totally unappropriate to being with ... I'll let you fill in the pieces.
*crosses arms*
I stand by my "equipment-strip and leave somewhere aesthetically pleasing" method.

quite people, True Art is something noble, do not
insult it.
Anyway.
I usually feel VERY, VERY guilty when I leave someone
behind, so I compensate this feeling leaving to the
NPC some nice pieces of equipment!
Hey, it seems to me absurd to tell someone:
"you're out, now leave me all of your belongings!!!"
even for you most evil guys, I mean
