What server did you play on, and what was your name online? Also, did you ever come across -Duelist- Anduin, or Master Anduin?

Hmm...I was trying to think of a 5th to make a nice round Top 5, but this was the best I could do:

1) Diablo II: Lord Of Destruction
2) Baldur's Gate I
3) Quake III Arena
4) Worms United

Frogus, If you have huge problems with me listing D2 as my favourite game of all time, I'll be happy to explain my reasons. Later. :D

The best game on a PC I've ever played is Lemmings. I've spent more of my life playing this game than NWN, BG2, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Civ3 and the X-Wing series combined. It's mindless but so horribly addictive and fun . . .

Planescape: Torment: the only game that left me feeling genuinely sorrowful and empty after completing it. I guess all great art does that to you.

It feels unfair to name a single game. Since I play either strategy or roleplaying games I'll name two games of each category:

RPG: BG2 and PS: T
Strategy: Civilization III and Total Annihilation

I consider all four games masterpieces, each in it's own way.

MGS is one of my favourite games ever, but i'd reccomend playing the console version instead. the graphics aren't as good, but it works better on a console, IMO.

I personally think it's better on PC.

It surprises me that no one has mentioned Total Annihilation; that game has got to be one of the greatest games ever. It's got a lot of feature that are way ahead of its time such as fully 3D terrain and units, a realistic physics engine, innovative gameplays, etc. In many ways it's even better than Starcraft beacuse it looks better, pays more attention to details, and is just as fun as SC.

I've played TA, but didn't think it was done to well. the only high point I saw in it, was it's 3D graphics, and IMHO, they weren't done properly, mostly because it was a new development in RTS maps. SC will always rank higher on the RTS scale then TA.

TA was a pretty decent game, but it is marred by the fact that at the higher tech levels it becomes a series of tank/plane/ship rushes, and can be too easily deadlocked and turn into a nuke fight. it is pretty good, and has some good features, but in a multiplayer or late-campaign single player mission, there is very little strategy other than that dictated by the map itself.

SC is better than TA, but I thought it could've used some of TA's innovations. On a side note, the music in the game is absolutely great.

Well, I did just a few posts before yours. ;) TA is still one of the best if not the best real time strategy game. Since ressources are not restricted in TA it has the greatest mass battles ever seen in the RTS genre so far. The engine is a phenomen and there still is a community that creates great mods and plays online. I won't comment on the SC / TA rivalry, IMHO it's a matter of personal taste. Personally I will always prefer TA over SC and C&C. In fact it's the only game I actually bought 2 copies of, I couldn't stand the idea that this game won't be around anymore one day.

TA & TA Kingdoms are good games. Too bad Cavedog close shop so we can't see any more development of these games. :(

Definitely in my top two-or-three. Nice to see your moniker once more, @Eminem. :)

Too bad Interplay gutted BIS about a year later. The team that's on site now has the resources to do a fine job for something relatively conservative like IWD, but lacks the creative impetus that was behind PS:T--or for that matter, TORN. :(

I would have to say BGII, and not just because of the storeyline, gameplay, replay value, dialogue, graphics, but also... err, well, that should do it.

X-Com UFO defense. Hands down the best single player game I ever played. Blew my mind - and scared the crap out of me - nothing like exploring an alien wreck late at night. I literally fell out of my chair more than once.

Best multiplayer game IMHO was Red Alert. I used to work at a computer store with a training room that had 12 computers on a lan. Six to eight of us would to come into work early on Sundays and play - great massive battles and teamwork.

Best RPG was Planescape. Although I have easily spent the most gaming time with Baldurs Gate 2. Planescape was a perfect single player rpg experience - but I never had the urge to replay it. I guess it is a testament to the depth of BGII that I have played through it dozens of times - or maybe I'm just nuts
