Well, I must put forward my c0mmrade Mah, he has shown a sense of humour and taken a certain amount of responsibility on theses boards.
Secondly, Gwally would be an excellent choice due to the leadership he has taken in the DF boards.
HLD and CE, whom I hold in the highest of regards, I see as being to oppinionated to be neutral and impartial in all matters.

So my word is Mah and Gwally.

Though if I were to narrow it down to only one, as I suggest we all do so Buck can make a decision, I would say..

Gwally.

Sorry c0mmrade :(

Sorry c0mmrade :(

...there's no need to apologize. Besides, this isn't a popularity contest. ;)

If Buck would allow me to be a mod, then I'll do it to the best of my ability --- it's the least that I can do for GB. :)

@Buck: although I'm glad some of the members considered me to become a moderator, I think there are better alternatives than me. I don't want to run against the other candidates, and therefor I must decline.

@you guys who voted for me ;) : thanks again for nominating me. Sorry to disappoint :o .

Ok i have been really busy in real life and this is my take on things. Some people could have problems with me being a mod. My views posted before are extremely unorthodox and people have taken offense. I just see people finding the views i post offensive and all of sudden i am nominated for a mod position, would not appreciate the change in status. (hope that makes sense, i am in a rush) If it is ok with buck if nominated i would accept. However if anybody even one person does not want me as mod, i will step down. This is a great site and i rather not bring more problems than those that already exist (which are very few, except for the RT, that is just a pain :D ). Hope that clears up things. :)

In one line: Choose me as a mod as a last resort :D

But honestly i think there are people who are far more qualified to fulfill the position.

My vote goes for Gwally.
I would have chosen HLD or CE, but then i personally think they would be constrained from posting in regards to political or controversial threads. And i rather not lose out on their insight and wisdom, just because their status changes. I have noticed how Fable must restrain himself from some threads and i rather not have another one go down that line. :)

And thanks for those who voted for me.

Wow. It's amazing the circumstances one can find themselves in when ingesting several hundred virtual ****tails, multiple sports and gaming conversations, and a aversion to political and world affairs discussion. I feel like Chauncey Gardner.

While I think it's cool and noble of my GB peers to nominate me for moderator status of SYM, I must decline. My work schedule and life keep my visits here sporadic. If I weren't available to dedicate a fair chunk of time daily to this place (and I'm not), I'd feel ineffective.

One of the other major factors is the time zone issue. Yes, I'm just another midwestern american yankee. Seems like our other SYM mods also hail from the states. That said, I think it best if we take on another mod from across the merry atlantic, but for god's sake, not another one from wales. :D ;) :p

Since Ysh and CE are out, I'd recommend CM (don't recall his acceptance or denial) or Mah.

Besides, if I were mod, I'd ask that all ladies check in their garments at the door. I don't know if that is a violation of forum rules or not, however, it's bound to add tumult to the boards.

thanks again
Ned

ok, it seems my memory fails me as CM is just a post above.

And for the eastern hemisphere potential mods, I failed to mention Ode and Flibble, both of whom I think would be good selections.

IMO, SYM needs a mod in a non-US timezone, as some other people have pointed out. So going by that, and removing the people from the list who don't want the job or aren't around much etc, I would say any of the following would do a great job:

Edit: Oh yeah, Xandax would be good as well :)

Xandax would be good, but remember that he also deals with the NWN forums, which have been quite busy lately. While he has proven himself to be capable, that might be a wee bit too much of a burdin(sp) on him. It also might be best to keep it to people who frequent SYM on a daily basis, and are more prominant then some of the other members.

To be fair Aegis, Xandax does visit SYM reguarly, but he doesn't post as reguarly, IMO not a bad thing.

A couple of days ago, Weasel asked me if I would be willing to serve as a moderator for SYM and I told him that I would be happy to if Buck asked and if you guys would have me.

Without going into too much detail, I must withdraw my name from consideration for SYM moderatorship because my current employment status has become tenuous. Things have been building to a head at work for several months and I may be turning in my notice on Monday because the staff has been getting boned over several issues for some time and I am the only one in a position to quit on principle.

It happens that my job allows me (generally) uninterupted access to the internet and GameBanshee, and if I were to serve as a moderator at this or any other GameBanshee forum, it would be primarily from work. Given that I do not know how long my job situation will be "in flux", it is unfair of me to accept a nomination to serve the GameBanshee community if I am unable to fulfill that commitment to the best of my ability and to the high standard that has been set by the current and past moderators.

I apologise to all of you here at Speak Your Mind for this sudden change and I thank everyone who put my name forth for their kind words. I do not think that a change in circumstances will alter my presence at GameBanshee much, but I do not know for certain. I only hope that I am not filling out Waverly's New improved goodbye form anytime soon.

Its all good, HLD. But you would have made a damn good mod, IMO. I hope your presence at SYM doesnt deminish, either, cause you also bring plenty of excellent points to debates and also have a good sense of humor. Just a few nice words I thought should be said from the new SPAMmer of SYM. :D ;)

Unless I get a key to the ladies locker, I'm afraid I must respectfully decline. Many thanks to however it was who brought my name up, and to Buck for not zapping my account upon seeing said nomination.

The truth is I don't have the time to do justice to such a job.

Sorry to hear that HLD.
I'm sure it'll work out. :)

But now I'm gonna have to vote for someone else. :D
BTW, what about Aegis? He has some other forums and has proven he could do a fine job.
