I like AR. I think he is funny. @Rob-hin, I don't think slagging off banned members is a great idea. It is a sensitive area, and will not provoke massive admiration, as the banned member of course cannot post back. I am sure that if you get banned, you will not want to be lurking on the board and see people saying 'Ah well, Robhin didn't have any friends anyway...'. Especially if it is not true...Anyway, I don't want to make a big argument about it :)

Anyway...where's Beldin? I seem to remember he came to SYM the same week as me...although his post count has risen rather more dramatically than mine since then  ...I didn't see him on the list...

*ahem* Shouldn't that be in past tense ;) - or do you know something I don't :p

Frogus, if anyone is banned what are they still doing lurking around the Gamebanshee forums? Once banned there is no reprieve and then posting as an alias only makes it worse.

I agree to some degree one shouldn't post about banned members, for I think it gains nothing, if anything people remember Banned Baasie more than they remember some of the other more important members, Baasie has become a mythical figure, which is just wrong, he did nothing worthy of a status apart from posting crap and getting banned.

Why a member is banned should be made an issue, but only near the time, peoples memories of what occured is sketchy at best and half of the recollections in this thread were wrong, so after a time it gains nothing to drag these things up from the past.

I like history and learning of those past. Thats about it. I also like looking at contraversial issues as long as I aint the one whos defending himself. :D

I agree completely with this. Also, it serves nothing more than to dredge up unpleasantness that most of us would rather forget. The circumstances of somebody getting banned are never positive, so why dwell on them? :(

To illustrate.... In the field of History there is a limit as to how recently one is allowed to study a certain subject. While this varies from department to department, the bare minimum is usually about twenty years. There are several reasons for this. One fairly obvious one is that a certain distance from an event is required in order to allow for greater objectivity, and also to allow for the full effects of the invariable repercussions to have taken place.
However, there is another reason, one based more on ethical considerations...... namely digging deeply into an area can have certain implications for those that were involved.....

In order of registration...I didn't discover SYM till like 6 months after I registered, so it is deceiving, but there is no way to figure it out that way unless I were to go back and read all the SYM archives, which would certainly drive me completely insane.

...welcome ruined, btw, to SYM. :)

If people really want to know the answer to the query, check up at least the top 20 oldest SYMians (in terms of registration, not age) and look for their first post at SYM. ;)

I'm too lazy to do such archaelogical findings. :o :p
