ok, i admit it....

i am getting bored of anomen bashing and actually feel sorry for him.... besides, i think its all been done before, and as fable pointed out, people have been bashing him for a long time now, and the topic is getting old...

i do freely admit to starting this thread to show off my creative wit, but you really have to start feeling sorry for him...

but this topic did get me thinking, those of you who are red dwarf fans know rimmer is by far the annoying git in existance, every mannerism and personality quirk is written with malice aforethought to grate on the viewer like fingernails on a chalkboard...

was anomen written the same way, or was he simply following the trend of the bioware romances to provide a "redemption" interest to the romance???

i mean, jahiera you have to redeem her from her grief over khalid, and redeem her from her troubles...quite a lot of troubles, in fact...viccy, if you choose the "nice" dialogs, you can eventually get her to accept the pc as a nice guy, and still get the romance to work, its harder, and you get a lot of abuse, but its redeeming a bad girl...aerie, you have to get her to stop brooding and try to get her to accept life on the ground, and get her mind and heart off her troubles by providing her with something else to latch on to....

could it be bioware wrote anomen to be annoying on the beginning, but after you help him win his knighthood, he is meant to be much more likable and fun to have in your party? thus you redeem him from his problems with his family and a much nicer and fun member of the party is born???? and if so, how good of a job did they do???

it certainly makes a lot more sense, and is much more in tune with the trend in the other romances....

based on certain things aqua have posted in other topics in the past, sir anomen is supposedly much nicer and more personable than the pre knighthood....but supposedly as well, the plain fighter anomen is also interesting and full of angst....

i personally have only enjoyed abusing him only when i could come up with something funny and witty, and anomen has only been really a target of convience....however i make no apology for my previous anobash post, since i did state right out my idea was to gather ideas for lord m's next mod...and i am looking foward to that mod because lord m is both witty and creative...

this does beg the question, though...how do people feel about the tob part of the anomen romance?? aerie has a much expanded tob romance, which makes sense, as her soa romance was short and hard to mess up, jahiera has a very short tob romance, as her soa romance is long and complex, viccy has also a fairly short tob part, no where near as long as the soa, so how is anomen expansion in tob???

its interesting that the upcoming bioware flirt packs, which promise to seriously extend the bioware romances is eagerly looked foward to, but i wonder if a lot of people will open their eyes wide and say

"aerie/viccy/anomen/jahirea would NEVER say that..."

i mean the original run thru we have all had pretty much locked those anthromorphic personalities in our minds...and while kelsey tashia and sola introduced new characters, new friends for us, imoen romance and the bioware flirt packs are doing something much much harder and more interesting from a critical point of view...they are trying to ADD to our views of the 4 romances, by adding dialog and interactions which they try their damndest to keep to the spirit of the bioware 4, and provide dialog that does not grate on our existing view and mental image of the 4 of them...

i really really look foward to seeing how their efforts work out, and i know at least 2 modules are in active beta test now, so much fun will be had by all, and

rangers and hamsters will rejoice!!!

Per request, I've merged the two active Anomen abuse threads, freeing another slot on the first page for some other discussion.

Meanwhile, by all means, carry on. :D

...Has anyone considered what it would be like to end up stuck in an elevator with Anomen and Haer'dalis?

"I must be getting annoying now... "

no, its rather nice and kinda.....cute....sorry, for us to see you drop everything and jump into anodefender mode....(remember defender? the old arcade game?)

must rescue those little men from the alien saucers...i mean little ano men....

sorry, sorry, fable, you're not going to ban punning, are you???
hee hee....

but i kinda see the reason why, too, he really is much picked on, and much abused... and frankly, its kinda getting boring to me to do it...i do admit npc bashing is just not nearly as fun as it was before the mods came out, now if you dont like a npc, get another one...edwin and to a lesser extent nalia, (most people use her as a mage rather than thief) can be easily replaced by kelsey or tashia, and with rowan and keto coming out soon, drop jan and haerdalis....

so npc bashing, which had a modicum of sense when you could not do anything about the annoying characteristics of a npc provided by bioware, is simply no longer an issue...get or wait for mod, if you really want a fighter cleric, or straight class thief...

besides, if i really come up with something funny and humorous for doing to anomen, i would post in lord m's forum to offer it as a suggestion for a dialog, and maybe see my name again in the readme credits....

anyway, npc bashing and anobash in particular is so last year....

 :D :)

User - Via Bast - AC (The Dark FLame charactor) is part feline. She worships the cat goddess of war, Bast, because of so. :) And simply because I love Egyptology :)

Jaesha - I agree! Nobody bashes CHARNAME, despite how many stupid tricks they always seem to fall for. ;)

Certain characters do seem to make reference to your powers however:
"Someday Tiax will point and click too"
"c-c-click on s-someone your own size"
Sometimes he needs it though:

Edwin: "That stupid CHARNAME! I hate him! He's always so ****y, thinks with his Bhaal powers he can do anything. He's never tasted true power"

Aerie/Jaheira/Viconia/Anomen: "Don't insult the group leader, he helps us a lot! Where would we be without him?"

Edwin: "I don't know, maybe NOT knowingly walking into mindflayer traps, attacking red dragons, dumping NPC's naked in the snow and practicing our disintegrates & backstabs on citizens. And I can't forget the time he tried to find out how many commoners he could kill with one fireball!"

AJVA: "But he holds the almighty power of save/load game! How can we resist?"
