Re: Re: Re: Now, about Solafein...

@ Galuf the Dwarf –

The Sola mod makes Solaufein an available to join you NPC, and give the player the possibility to get a romance as well. Additionally, there are some battles for you to give as Lloth is angry with Solaufein and seeks revenge.

The acidic katana had been part of the tactic encounters that were part of Sola mod in the earlier versions, but at some point Weimer decided to separate them, and now it’s part of the Tactics Mod Pack. Therefore you should download and install that if you want to fight Kuroisan, the Acid Kensai and obtain his katana.

@ JackOfClubs –

You are probably right. There has been a long time since I played BGII with no mods installed.

Jackof Clubs: The strange thing is that is the same dialogue that I think I got.

Aubrey: Well, right now my Paladin's in a romance w/ Aerie. If I do get the option to recruit Solafein (which I still doubt), will that ruin it immediately, or can I somehow work around it so that I could get that special sword or ability he gets while still romancing Aerie? And I mean legitimately, not using codes/cheats of ANY sort.

Like I said, I got the patch, not the Sola mod, so I'm still skeptical.

If you haven't installed Sola mod, there is no way you can make him join your party. That's for sure.

Now, about the sword or the special ability: Solaufein receives it as a reward for your "guidance" through a series of discussions you two have together. Since it's a part of the romance, I am unsure whether Solaufein will be granted either of them (by his goddess) if you don't lead him on.

In an earlier version Aerie --or any other NPC whom the player was romantically involved with-- didn't react while romancing both her and Solaufein, but I don't know if this has changed in the latest one (v. 96). Yet, I doubt Weimer would make such a change.

Oh, okay then. It just seemed wierd that the Ellistrae thing was brought up.

Solaufein only tells you about Ellistrae if you choose to say him you are no Drow. When you pick the dialogue option "I can't say why I'm here" (or something like that) he won't tell you that Lolth has no hold over him.

That's why I thought the mentioning of Eilistraee wasn't included in the official game: because I had never used that line. Thanks, Numinor.

Okay, I get what you're saying to a definite point. The thing is, how will this affect my cover, and the outcome of rescuing Adalon's eggs? Will he still come around with his set of fake eggs, or will it just make some other form of difference? I've been through the entire game before, though I'm just trying to find some differences that will really enhance the game play, item- and EXP-wise. I know of practically all the side-areas, and all, but I just feel like somethings to that which I'm not catching.

It makes no difference what you tell him, he'll always give you the fake eggs later if you don't kill him. It's only a diffrent dialogue.
