Another question: Does anyone else feel bad about killing netches? I was out hiking around Seyda Neen just for the fun of it, and I shot an arrow at a Cliff Racer, but hit a Betty Netch by accident (well, it might not have been so much of an accident). Well, I had to finish killing it, of course.

You know, these big beasts floating around, making such great targets, are sure tempting. But then again, they never hurt me, and they seem pretty docile, so I felt pretty bad about killing her.

I'm reminded of a time when I was working on an excavation out on federal land. The rancher who leased the grazing rights to the forest told me that he just hated hunting season. Hunters in the area were so stupid that they tended to shoot his cows instead of the deer. One season, he got so frustrated that he got some white paint and painted "COW" on the side of his livestock! :D

During one of my early efforts, I was trying to get to Balmora with my package for Caius and I took the northern route that uses a short stretch of the Foyada Mamaea and was badly mauled by a bull netch there. I learned of the southern route later to avoid them. I suspect that once you reach a certain level they don't molest you any more. I understand your feeling, but do remember, they aren't real.

I suspect the hunters are aren't quite as stupid in the fashion you suggest, but rather they can't find any real game and get drunk and frustrated will then shoot at livestock. It's still stupidity.

Really? I've been walking under them since I was 4th level, and they never seemed bothered by me.... So if you are too low a level, they attack you on sight? Do they ever attack at other times?

They might not be real, but they look so innocent just floating around up there. I wonder what the ecology of a Netch is? What do they eat? Maybe they absorb energy from the sun or nutrients from the sea mist? :D

Even simpler - with a gun. Still stupid.

Why worry about a Netch? You don't see me crying and fretting over the shopkeepers I killed and cleaned out. :D

In the entire time I played the game, I think I can remember one or maybe two times when they were actually hostile to me.

There's only a few times Netch will attack first. I had teh mating pair near Hla Oad attack or maybe Gnaar Mok. the other was when I was escorting someone and the netch decided to attack.

@Gwally:......If you really want to have a great time, Try levitating up onto a bull netch's back and go for a bit of a rodeo MW style. For good measure, enchant your pauldrons with lesser fireball, frost, and spark. When you do, be sure and make it a ranged weapon, then you can ride around shooting cliff racers out of the sky with pretty swirly thingies :D

Heh. I'm going to try that Netch Rodeo idea next chance I get. :D

But right now I'm trying to figure out why my Petty Soul Gems keep dissappearing from my inventory.... :(

They should disappear only when you enchant something. Otherwise I cannot say.

Or, when you stole them, when you talk to a guard. :)

He would know about the 'disappearance' in this situation and would not be just because he talked to a guard. Only if he did steal them, and then only his theft was noticed and only if he managed to elude the guards, would talking to a guard cause the 'disappearence' of his property.
No, I think it's something else.

The stealing might be the problem. I looted the upper level of the Trader's shop in Caldera, where I picked up some Mazte (sp?). I later accidentally tried to sell it back to him, and he reported my crime. His guard immediately charged me a 1 gp fine. Later, I tried selling more Mazte to the trader (that I had looted from a cave) and I was again accused of stealing. I may also have looted petty soul gems from him, and this may have been when they went missing. That makes some sense. Otherwise, I spent considerable time wandering around trying to remember if I set them down someplace..... :D

Okay, Next Question:

Does anyone else really hate the lay-out of the City of Vivec? I am so sick of walking around and around those big pyramids....

Oh yeah, hate that place. First time I went was at night, real dark, couldn't see where I was going. It made me want to kill something IRL  . It gets easier if you make some pants of levitation or something, 10 points for about 10 seconds should get you from level to level and pyramid to pyramid.
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach

Here's the scoop on stealing - as I understand it. DON'T STEAL FROM MERCHANTS. That having been said, try not to steal from those you could conceivably return to (I stole the glass armour from the smith in Ghostgate comfortable with the notion that I would never return to him again).

It doesn't matter whether you return to sell the exact same item to that merchant or a similar item - as far as the merchant is concerned it's the same and every other similar one will be the same (every bottle of matze is same as every other bottle).

Now that you've 'lost some stuff', you can retrieve it from the evidence chest in any fort. There is only one evidence chest for all the forts, so it doesn't matter which one you go to. How you retreive it is up to your ingenuity.

If you're going for petty soul gems your time is better spent snagging more from bandit caves than retrieving them from the fort.

Ah, I wondered what those evidence chests were for.... :) You're right, the petty soul gems are not worth the trouble, so I'm not going to bother - but I can test the theory now by checking in an evidence chest.... ;)

I shall foreswear stealing from merchants from here on out. :D

What? Not stealing? That's plain wrong :p

I just pick a couple merchants here and there that I designate as my buyers, and never steal from them. everyone else is fair game. But there is just too much tempting loot laying around MW to just swear off it. :D For the most part, I sell everything I can to Creeper, and what he won't take, I either sell in Balmorra or Ald"Ruhn.

And yes, Vivec's layout sucks :D

I got so fed up with travelling around Vivec that I downloaded a house mod with an entrance to/from all the Vivec cantons :o

Cheater :p

Tempting, though.... :D

I'm going to experiment with the Boots of Blinding Speed and see how well they work to get me around Vivec. If Night Eye can get me past the blinding affect, that might work. I'll have a spell maker make me a long-duration Night Eye spell or I'll enchant a ring.....

In the mean time, I have found that my Amulet of Slowfall will let me get from the top of one pyramid to the bottom of another without having to circle around and around. :)

@BS: Yeah, Creeper is my current main guy but it is annoying when he won't buy the really heavy things that I've managed to lug up to him! (Like the 3 tons of raw ebony that I found last night!) :D
